#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 38

SPEAK OUT

#Celebs

Nicki Minaj versus Taylor Swift. Is there a winner already?

I’ll begin with Nicki Minaj. I never enjoyed listening to her older albums because I never really connected to her outrageous costumes, music videos and the rest. However, when she changed her look and the other directions, I became the happiest man alive! I am into (totally) Nicki and her ways. OMG, she has become a queen. Her latest album was one of the best albums, her business ventures don’t look so bad and her style (the hair, the clothes, the jewelry, the outstanding personality) has my full attention. She is Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s Top Female Celebrity for the third E.W. Year because of all of that (and more).

Nicki Minaj = Bow Down People.

QUESTION: Will she win the E.W. Recognition again?

SONGS BY NICKI MINAJ:

-    Moment For Life (featuring Drake)
-    Super Bass
-    Fly (featuring Rihanna)
-    Beez In The Trap (featuring 2 Chainz)
-    Starships
-    Pound The Alarm
-    High School (featuring Lil’ Wayne)
-    Pills n Potions
-    Anaconda
-    Only
-    Feeling Myself
-    The Night Is Still Young

Taylor Swift. Who doesn’t enjoy Taylor Swift’s music?

Switching to the Pop genre was the smartest move. In the beginning, when she released the song “Shake It Off” I didn’t think the switch would work. Thankfully, she proved to the critics that she could pull off Pop and above all, her fans didn’t forsake her. She is the E.W. Recognitions Top Female Celeb for the USA and has a few recognitions in Music which placed Synth-Pop back on the map. Yes, I am a die-hard Synth-Pop Music fan and I really hope she’s busy with another Synth-Pop, 80’s inspired music piece. Please, let it not end with 1989.

SONGS BY TAYLOR SWIFT:

-    Teardrops On My Guitar
-    Love Song
-    You Belong With Me
-    Fifteen
-    Mine
-    Mean
-    We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
-    I Knew You Were Trouble
-    22
-    Red
-    Everything Has Changed (featuring Ed Sheeran)
-    Shake It Off
-    Blank Space
-    Style
-    Bad Blood (featuring Kendrick Lamar)
-    Wildest Dreams

THROWBACK:

Dancing with the Stars on ABC aired its Season 21 finale about a month ago. It was star-studded (of course) and obviously crushed the ratings charts. I didn’t really enjoy the finale. I feel it lacked something I can’t describe (excitement, maybe) which the premiere pulled off. Anyway, I will still be watching the next season and hopefully, the cast will be as good (if not better) than Season 21.

HOT ON TV

Let’s talk about CBS Television. Yes, this commercial network has bagged multiple Enzer’s World (E.W.) Recognitions and continues to expand successfully. Imagine a television station/network/channel that would keep you glued for twenty-four hours; CBS is close to that level.

CBS is the Best TV Channel/Station/Network for the second year in a row and boasts top E.W. shows such as 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, The Bold & The Beautiful, Mom and many more hit TV shows.

Why CBS?

CBS has the most television series that are usually shortlisted for the E.W. Recognitions and those particular series are some of the best-produced shows on Television. Plus, the reality TV shows airing on CBS are so awesome (Survivor US, The Amazing Race, etc) and are some of the most expensive shows produced for Television.
Oh, and the Televised Events are the cherry on top. The Grammys, The Tonys, The ACM Awards amongst others, air live on CBS each year and definitely add to CBS’s value.

Tune in some time.

HOTTER:
Saturday Night Live (SNL) on NBC has stepped up! The SNL Gods have finally responded! Week after week the 41st Season of this series keeps entertaining and surprising viewers. Time flies whilst watching an episode, like an hour of TV airtime isn't enough.
The producers/directors/owners are doing a great job at selecting hosts and musical guests unlike during the 40th Season (gosh it took them a random season to pull up their socks, WOW) which was a little bit of a mess. Even the 40th Anniversary celebration was a huge flop. Anyway, it’s not like we have options. *SIGHS*

THROWBACK:
The 2015 American Music Awards (AMAs) aired live on ABC on the 22nd of November. Jennifer Lopez (JLo) was not a bad hostess. It just looked like she was at the awards just to have fun. Yes, (please don’t deny this) she even had an awkward moment on stage. I don’t think she was showing off, I guess she was just being human, LOL.

The 2014 AMAs versus the 2015 AMAs, 2014 wins. This year’s ceremony wasn’t exciting even with JLo as hostess. The performances were not bad at all. It was the usual pop stars and all. It just felt like people were ‘drained’ or stressed out or just bored. What was going on that night?

On the other hand, I will be tuning in next year hoping that the producers will blow our minds just like in 2014.

#TheRoundUp by Enzer No. 36

HOT ON TV

Awkward, Faking It & Scream: Three youthful Television Shows, all on MTV, that never disappoint.

I'll start with Awkward; the series had me at episode one! I love the setting, the plot, the actors, the production, the channel – dude, close the curtains because we have a winner (err sort of).
Season 5 of the series took it home. I have never been more impressed by a production team in my ‘life.' Really, I have nothing bad to say about this series.

Awkward has numerous nominations (E.W. Recognitions) and (overall) continues to do well. Will it last?

Have you ever watched Faking It? I just love the names that MTV (or whoever is responsible) gives to these series, LOL. The writers of this teen drama did a good job at playing with audiences' minds. No, I am not going to spoil it for you if you haven't watched the show before. Oh, and it's LGBTI-Friendly (on the Lesbian side) and depicts a rare story about teens that are somewhat confused about their sexuality. It's funny, relatable and not offensive in any way (unlike Orange Is the New Black on Netflix which taps into that unforgiving side unreservedly).  Top Male Celebrity Gregg Sulkin stars in the show as heartthrob Liam Booker and is one of the many reasons I try to never miss an episode. Yes, he's a catch.

Did you miss the TV version of Scream? The show, which aired its premiere season this past summer (American), turned out to be a hit and was renewed for a second season. Everything was well done and I can't wait for the second season. They really did well with the characters and the storylines plus the hour-long episodes were not a bad idea at all. The series is not a comedy-drama (or as we like to call it here – dramedy) so I guess that an hour wouldn't be too much. Forget the Scream Movies, this series is as original as any other series in its genre and is MUST SEE TV – YEAH!

The 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards aired live from Milan on the 25th of October and were hosted by Top Music Act Ed Sheeran and Australian actress Ruby Rose (she's hot isn't she?). I loved the stage! It was so 2015. The graphics were out of this world. I am sure a lot of producers and designers had a sleepless night after they saw that stage in Milan. The performances were spot on. Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber, and Jess Glynne were my favorite performers and the presenters did a great job. I'd watch the show ten times (if I haven't already).

The 2015 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards aired live on ABC this week. The event took place in Nashville in an arena filled with Country Stars and Fans; I wish I was there too! Keith Urban opened the ceremony with a medley of his hit singles and Little Big Town won big time. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the event. They did a great job and cracked jokes like pros. Are they hosting again? The performances were the best. Country Singers really know how to perform live. There is no other group of performers that does it better and the fusions with artists of other genres, makes them better. I salute!

HOTTER:
Jennifer Lopez will be hosting the 2015 American Music Awards! Yes, thank you for that. It must work out because JLo is hosting. I really hope they trained her and got her really ready unlike with other hosts that they just throw into the deep end (I'm looking at you Pitbull). Surprise us; make it memorable, we will be watching.

American Horror Story on FX is losing it, and it's not just me. No, every viewer, fan and critic out there is losing hope. What happened to you AHS? Where are the outrageous scenes that made this show a hit? We miss you. Please work on it.

THROWBACK:
Masters of Sex on Showtime aired its Season 3 Finale at the end of September of this year. The ending was such a cliché. Well, at least the writers didn't take it too far so I'll be watching the next season. Generally, it's a good show. It's not edgy, but everything that happens on the show is unexpected. I like that the series drifts from the norm (in many ways) and really tries to portray reality. On the other hand, I feel like the series has an unfair advantage because it's based on a true story. It makes it easier for the writers to tap into reality and connect with audiences. Which I hope is working out because I for sure am enjoying the series.

IN THE NEWS

China showcased its first large passenger jet during the course of this week! The makers vowed to challenge Boeing and Airbus' dominance in the commercial aviation industry. I am glad that Boeing and Airbus will finally have competition (especially Airbus) and that an alternative will be available. I am however disappointed by the fact that the invention is not 100% Chinese. Yes, several foreign companies worked on this production (including American companies) by providing the much-needed computer systems, expertise, and dollars. *SIGH*

#Celebs

Leah Remini is trending, seriously trending. OMG, she is everywhere! She's out and about talking about why she left the Scientology Church and all the drama that came along with her 30 year-long (yes, 30 years) stay. I like Leah Remini. She is a beautiful and talented individual with an amazing reality show and a ton of jokes in reserve (I also loved watching her on The Talk airing on CBS) but the story that has her name on the tip of everyone's tongue is so old. I've read about this stuff, I've talked to many people who've been through similar experiences (I'm sure many people have) such that it has become a nuisance. However, I am glad that a celebrity or someone that is well known and respected in Hollywood is speaking out about all that happens behind the closed doors of these churches of redemption. It's an eye opener, a chance to raise awareness and a call for help for all those that are trapped. Good for you Leah!

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 35

HOT ON TV

Imagine a life without our beloved celebrities to talk about. In the world of television, we would probably not have Talk/Chat shows as an option on our schedules, Awards Shows would obviously be lacking and Reality Lifestyle Magazine Series like Entertainment Tonight (E.T.) would just be a dream.

Yes, you got it! In this edition of #TheRoundUp , TV programs that provide world class celebrity coverage for an English speaking audience will be the center of attention.

E.T.: This series is a Top Enzer’s World (E.W.) TV show that keeps getting better. When I began watching E.T. (Syndicated) a couple of years ago, I couldn’t understand why the show was ever on-the-air to begin with. Thankfully, the show has improved. For the past two years E.T. has added so much of value, the E.W. Board unanimously voted for the series to win the recognition in the Outstanding Reality TV Lifestyle Magazine Series category for the 3rd E.W. Year. I am glad it won that recognition and that it’s keeping up.

The E.W. Board voted wisely! The set and the logo and the content is on point plus the team behind it all is hard-working. The anchors also had a good year: Nancy O’Dell and co-host Kevin Frazier both won recognitions for their work during the 3rd E.W. Year beating top Hollywood talent (according to us) and cementing E.T.’s place in the world of Television. On the other hand, I really hope that they extend their daily airtimes to an hour long episodes per day (soon) because I’m getting a little annoyed by how all the condensed episodes (well, it feels that way) leave no room for ‘breathing.’ It’s all rushed and too much at the same time. Luckily, I can keep up but I’m sure many others aren’t able to and might be tempted to switch to their competition. Hmm, I wonder which show that is.

The Canadian version of the show (E.T. Canada) isn’t so bad either. The series airs on Global Canada and has a gorgeous set and presenters, and some of the content is surprisingly better. A lot of people find it difficult to differentiate between an American and Canadian product, but for this one, E.T., is an exception.

E! News: These guys never disappoint. Whenever I miss an episode I fall sick, LOL. It’s so addictive and well produced; I wish it was on all day (or maybe not). E! News (airing exclusively on the E! network) won the E.W. RecognitionsOutstanding Reality Television Lifestyle Magazine Series recognition for the 2nd E.W. Year (sadly they lost in the 3rd year to E.T.) because they killed it. Their set is so accommodative and looks expensive – I’d buy it all. The news is delivered exceptionally and the hosts were born to host the show. Jason Kennedy, Maria Menounos, Cat Sadler, Terrence Jenkins, Giuliana Rancic (former) and the rest are mesmerizing and wear those outfits/suits impeccably. Yes, I’m sure one of the reasons why the show ‘pulls the crowds’ is because of the fashion.

Ever watched some of their celebrity interviews? Gosh, the best. They take their time and make viewers feel appreciated for their time. That is one thing that many shows lack. Appreciation is key people.

Access Hollywood: Oh one of my new favorites. I like that it’s a combination of several elements. There are the discussions, the interviews, the live shows – I mean who beats that? This series (which airs in Syndication) is pushing it (in a good way) and it’s paying off – THANK GOD. Is it fair to say that it’s all flawless (for now)?

The Insider: Fast-paced and always a pleasure to watch. Unlike E.T., this show delivers relevant celebrity stories/news in a short space of time without making me ‘pass out’ and they don’t even need a large studio for that magic to happen! If you are a busy bee with only a few minutes to spare but don’t want to miss out on what’s hot in Hollywood, then The Insider (Syndicated) is the right show for you. Whoever created this is a genius. Dude, you are up there with the Wright Brothers and Alexander Graham Bell, LOL.

Hollywood Today Live: This new show (Syndicated) is refreshing. I’d recommend it without any doubt. I would be sad if I missed an episode and I would be shocked if it got canceled. It deserves to be on-the-air and I only hope for the best. No, I’m not being nice because it’s a new one. No, it’s a good show and I like it. :)

Extra: If I had another option, I would go for the other option. I don’t know how to explain it, but the show (airs in Syndication) is definitely lacking something. It’s not boring; there’s a lot of unique, relevant and important content in each episode. I just can’t seem to connect with all that’s happening. However, Mario Lopez and Charissa Thompson make it bearable (they should host ‘til the end of time) and the outdoor setting earns the show a couple of golden points. Keep it outside and I’ll keep ‘defending’ it.

TMZ: What about TMZ (Syndicated)? I'll call it the odd one out in a very appealing way. The format is like no other and each episode is very entertaining. It's worth the time.

Hotter:
What’s On-The-Air right now? Well, Dancing with the Stars premiered its 21st Season a month ago on ABC! I’m enjoying watching the show and hopefully it’ll keep on entertaining.

The Affair returned for a second season on Showtime but sadly I am beginning to run out of reasons to tune in. It might not get a third season.

Satisfaction on USA Network is the drama series to watch. I enjoyed the first season of the show and threw a huge party (in my mind) when I heard that it was returning for a second season. #NotToBeMissed

The Voice on NBC is back! I’m glad Gwen Stefani is back. She really fits in and seems to be the only exciting personality/thing/aspect so far. So, don’t expect much.

IN THE NEWS

A number of interesting stories and people have been trending for months. Kim Davis (I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about her by now) who made headlines after she refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples in the U.S. because of her religious beliefs has been in and out of jail, praised and ridiculed by the media, government and the LGBTI community all at the same time.
On one hand, I don’t understand why she didn’t simply quit her job if serving gay people was a problem for her but, on the other hand, I feel like the gay lifestyle and all is being shoved down people’s throats (in America). A number of countries are gay-friendly or way more LGBTI progressive than the United States (rights, protections, education), but they don’t have to always talk about it. America takes it too far. Is it all a sham?

Cecil the Lion was also a touching headline a few months ago. The death of the beloved Zimbabwean lion which was killed by an American dentist had tourists mourning. I was a little surprised by all the attention Cecil received because I thought people knew that animals were being killed on a daily basis in nature reserves all over the African continent. I hope more is done to protect these animals. It begins with the locals (Zimbabweans). If the locals care more about their livestock, then there’s no hope. What’s your solution?

The murder of the Virginia TV Journalists was also a shocker. I still cannot believe that they were shot on live TV. Who does that? Why are people killing each other so much in America? I hope it doesn’t become a trend. Yes, selfies, the Presidential Debates, Kim Kardashian and all of that stuff is cool. The irresponsible/barbaric use of guns – not cool.

Kaley Cuoco got divorced! Yes, Kaley Cuoco and sportsman Ryan Sweeting are done. I am still in shock. Why does this always happen to Hollywood Celebs? Is there something in the water? Oh, I also heard that Beyonce and Jay-Z are having problems. Sources say they are still together because of their little girl Blue Ivy. SMH

On the brighter side, I think it’s honorable (for Hollywood’s sake) to congratulate a few celebrity couples for sticking together for longer than expected.
