#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 18

HOT ON TV

Are you following the mess that is The Gallagher Family

I’m on it each week, and I love it!

Though I’m pretty sure that most (if not all) of the citizens of the world would never wish to even be borderline ‘poor’, Shameless airing on Showtime makes it all look so cool.

Now, that is what is wrong, about television kids, LOL.

Anyway, the TV series Shameless (which is also an Enzer’s WorldE.W.’ top TV Series) is without doubt a rose among thorns.

(Did you notice the contradiction?)

It’s simply a good television show that pushes boundaries and that the public can relate to effortlessly. In other words, the challenges that the members of The Gallagher Family have to overcome are not new to many Americans.

How about the actors?

One word: MAGNIFICENT.

It’s such a great ensemble, I can’t find a flaw.

William H. Macy, who plays the role of Frank Gallagher is truly an outstanding actor.

Leading lady Emmy Rossum (Fiona Gallagher) has shut down the critics and the rest of the actors are not ‘just there’, they truly deserve to be part of the show!

I hope the show stays on TV for as long as TV is alive, LOL.

Moving on, another TV series that recently concluded its third season and that leaves viewers in awe after each episode has aired is the Tyler Perry original: The Haves and The Haves Nots

The series, which airs on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN, is unique and full of drama. It’s a bit slow (soap-opera format) but at least it’s not as slow as the daytime drama Passions which last aired on NBC a few years ago.

Do you remember Passions

I loved that soap-opera (wait, I still do), and was really sad when it ended.

I’ll definitely be blogging about it soon. #GoodTimes

IN THE NEWS

I’m sure you’ve read or heard about the German Airplane crash by now, right?

Can you believe that one of the pilots had a major role in the crashing?

You know, air travel is supposed to be (if not) the safest mode of transport available, but such incidents make me think twice.

It’s still not clear yet but there’s a high chance that the pilot that caused all of this was linked to a terrorist group.

AMERICAN IDOL ROUND-UP

The group performance featuring Boy George sucked! Daniel Seavey flopped, again and Tyanna got her groove back. Yes, it was an awesome episode.

Where does Ryan Seacrest get his good looks from? He looked dapper during the live show. Sadly, Maddie and Adanna got kicked out of the competition, all the best to them. They made Season Fourteen special.

BEST PERFORMERS:- Nick stood out. I love his voice. Rayvon did his thing (good) as usual and Jax showed them how it’s done (and she's very beautiful).

WORST PERFORMER:- Daniel. Lucky for him, America loves him.

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 17

SPEAK OUT

Eye Candy:-
Tom Daley is our star of the week! Well, he is also Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s Top Male Celeb for the second E.W. Year (2013/2014), but I’m sure it won’t hurt if we shine a little more light on him, right?

Besides his jaw-dropping good looks, Tom is also one of the world’s best divers. I watched him do ‘his thing’ at the previous Commonwealth Games and boy was I astonished. He is one of a kind and deserves all the pay checks he is rolling in.

What I also admire about him (and I’m sure millions of other people out there would agree considering that he is E.W.’s Top Male Celeb.) is that he is an openly gay athlete. That on its own is very inspiring and gives hope (in many different ways) to young LGTBI people out there.

Oh, and did I mention that he is dating an ‘older man’? Do you believe that age is just a number?

Still on gorgeous British men, were you aware that the Top Male Celebs for both the first and second E.W. Years were British? Alex Pettyfer topped the list in the first year, most probably for starring in the first Magic Mike film and his fellow countryman, Tom, topped the list in the following year.

What is it with British men? Is it the power they possess (if they have any?), is it their aura or is it simply about their God-given good looks? It’ll always be a mystery to some of us, I guess.

AMERICAN IDOL ROUND-UP

What is it with American Idol and the Movie Theme or Movie Week?

I know that the show airs from Los Angeles and that Hollywood is important in that part of the world but I just can’t seem to find my place on that night, if you know what I mean.

So, it was pretty good.

I enjoyed watching the episode and most of the performances were on point. I didn’t expect the judges to use their save on Qaasim, but I understand why they did that.

Besides the fact that he is a great performer, he is so good for TV. (Get it?)

WORST PERFORMANCES: - Daniel; Adanna; Tyanna

#TheRoundUp By Enzer - No. 16

HOT ON TV

Who does not enjoy watching Bates Motel on A&E

Recognized by the Enzer’s World (E.W.) Board as the Outstanding TV Series for the second E.W. Year (2013/14), Bates Motel premiered its third season on the ninth of this month.

Are Enzer and the E.W. Board impressed?

Well, it’s too early to tell.

Let’s just discuss the first two seasons for now, shall we?

The Production: superb. The set is authentic and sets the mood (this includes The Bates Motel and The Bates’ residence), the sound and lighting is on point and makes the viewer feel present, and the picture quality is good. The show has a great production team. If nobody is going to see or recognize that, WE WILL!

How good is the writing team? It is an amazing writing team. The series always leaves the viewer’s hanging on a thread. We never know what’s next! This is good because it simply parades a writers’ high caliber. I, in particular, enjoyed the season one finale. It got me excited and restless. Bates Motel (after the season one finale) became some kind of air that I couldn’t survive without. Good job guys!

Moving on, the stars of the series namely Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates) and Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates) are doing a stellar job. Before I talk about their high standard of acting, can I use this opportunity to praise the casting directors that cast Freddie and Vera for the lead roles in this series? Well done! Those two actors are so compatible. I don’t think there are any other actors out there that are good enough, seriously.

Back to Freddie and Vera: they are the best actors on TV!

Freddie is recognized by the E.W. Board as the Outstanding Actor in a Fictional TV Series for the second E.W. Year (2013/14) and Vera is one of E.W.s’ Top Actresses.

Do they deserve recognition? Well, of course! Freddie is exceptional. He transforms into the character ‘Norman’ so well and with Vera by his side, magnificence surfaces on our screens. I’m looking forward to the third season of the series and many more (fingers crossed).

Cheers!

MUSIC SPOT

It’s Korean Pop (K-Pop) week on E.W.! If you follow E.W. on Twitter @EW_Xtra then you should’ve noticed by now that our top songs for this week were Korean! Yes, the bug that carries the K-Pop virus has bit us too! No, you and I don’t need to see doctors, we just need to dance and sing along, LOL. Our celebration of K-Pop will end soon but don’t despair; E.W. will continue sharing some of our favorite K-Pop hits, K-Pop artists’ interviews and lots more to add in to the E.W. library. Welcome home, K-Pop!

EDM Chart:-
1)    I Want You to Know – Zedd ft. Selena Gomez

DAILY INSPIRATION

You create opportunity. You can turn crises into creative opportunities and defeats into successes and frustration into fulfilment. How is this possible? With your great invisible weapons: your good feelings about yourself, your determination to live the best life you can, and your feeling – that only you can give yourself – that you are worthwhile, deserving person. You are your most important critic. There is no opinion as vitally important to your wellbeing as the opinion you have of yourself. Are you a nurturing coach or a critic? Do you reinforce your own success or negate it?

“Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” – HENRY DAVID THOREAU

AMERICAN IDOL ROUND-UP

Wednesday and Thursday night’s episodes: SIMPLY THE BEST!

Everything looks good this season. The new stage is stunning and the personalities fit in well with this season's theme (if there is any). However, amidst the spectacular live shows, a flaw that I just can’t ignore keeps bugging me. It’s the opening song! I just prefer the song or music used last season.

I enjoyed most of the performances. The contestants were ready and did their best – I could see the effort. Some disappointed (i.e. Sarina Joi) and others failed to woo America (I’m looking at you Adam) but it's okay. I still believe that the next best-selling artist is still staying in the IDOL House.

BEST PERFORMANCES: Quentin (Night One) and Nick (Night Two)

ENZER’S TOP 10: Tyanna; Clark; Joey; Quentin; Maddie; Adanna; Nick; Jax; Daniel and Rayvon.

Qaasim is a great performer but his singing is not as good as the other contestants'. He could score more points if he tried something new or something outside his comfort zone. The other contestants have done that already.
