#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 14

HOT ON TV

Are you as broke as Max Black (played by Kat Dennings) and Caroline Channing (played by Beth Behrs) from 2 Broke Girls, LOL? I hope not. I, on the other hand, do hope that you are enjoying the show as much as we are here at Enzer’s World (EW). 2 Broke Girls Season 4, airing on CBS, is MUST SEE TV! One quality that this series possesses (which many TV Sitcoms lack) is an outstanding script. The comical lines on 2 Broke Girls are one of a kind and keep me and I’m sure millions more in stitches throughout about eighty percent of the episodes. Kudos to the writing team!

THE CAST: Incredible! I have to continuously remind myself that it’s a fictional series because the actors fit in so well with the characters.

Another popular show, that I think is not so bad, is ABC’s Nashville. This primetime drama that follows the interesting lives of American country music stars hasn’t really convinced me that it is better than the rest. The show is simple, almost like real-life but borderline boring. The show needs more drama, more excitement and a few new characters. However, I do like the gorgeous actors that currently work on the show. Yes, please, keep them, just work on the other stuff, LOL.

The 2015 Brit Awards on ITV were pretty good. The British aren’t really the best in entertaining the world during a live event (e.g. the boring and long 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony, yea I remember that), except when they organize The Brits which fortunately for us are the ‘black sheep’ in a good way, they throw an amazing party. Mama Madonna did her thing! She fell, but she still brought it! I also enjoyed performances by Sam Smith, Taylor Swift (opening act) and George Ezra (the guy with THE VOICE). The stage needs to change though. I know that it’s kind of like their ‘signature’ but I think it still needs a bit of a modern 2015 touch. You know - something fresh and cool.

AMERICAN IDOL ROUND-UP

Season 14 needs more oomph! The episodes that aired on Wednesday and Thursday night almost made me sleepy. However, I did like the American Idol (AI) team’s move to Detroit for the Top 24 show, it gave the show that little something special that their competition had (most probably) not seen coming – GOOD FOR YOU IDOL PEOPLES! The episodes were very fast, which is a good thing because it keeps many of us focused on what is going on, and the judges (as expected) didn’t really JUDGE. They were too nice.

The performances by the TOP 24 Boys and Girls (overall) were disappointing. I still can’t make up my mind on which group did better. Both sides had gems and rotten tomatoes LOL.

Who was the best performer? Boys’ side: Adam Ezegelian. He opened NIGHT ONE with so much energy, like a true rock star. The only concern is that he might not be as versatile as other artists, which could result in him suffering the same fate as last year’s winner, Caleb Johnson. On the other hand, I think he might win the competition! Sharing the second place spot is Mark Andrew and Rayvon Owen. Mark is so cool and sings so effortlessly. He would definitely top the charts. Rayvon is so present and easy to love. I see DOLLARS written all over him.

The worst performers were Trevor Douglas and Daniel Seavey. Trevor was too excited and off key. Daniel looked very uncomfortable, but maybe it was the song choice.

ENZER’S TOP 8 BOYS: Adam Ezegelian; Mark Andrew; Rayvon Owen; Clark Beckham; Nick Fradiani; Savion Wright; Riley Bria; Quentin Alexander

A few girls did well: Adanna Duru sounded really good. Alexis Gomez fooled me into believing that that Miranda Lambert song that she sang was written for her and Jax’s edge is awesome. The best performer was Sarina-Joi Crowe (her first name though). She sang her song very well from beginning to end.
It was flawless!
The worst performer was Shi Scott (obviously). Her arrangement of the song “Umbrella” was appalling and she even made it worse by not singing well. It might not entirely be her fault though because I’ve watched many Reality Singing Competition contestants fail to sing the song well. So it might just only be Rihanna who can successfully pull that one off.

ENZER’S TOP 8 GIRLS: Sarina-Joi Crowe; Adanna Duru; Alexis Gomez; Jax; Joey Cook; Shannon Berthiaume; Maddie Walker; Katherine Winston

I can’t wait to see what the show has in store for us next week!

#TheRoundUp By Enzer - No. 13

No, you’re not the third wheel. You are special :)
Here’s #TheRoundUp !

HOT ON TV

MOVING PICTURES! The song ‘Moving Pictures’ (if that’s the name) is stuck in my head. Whoever wrote that, whoever composed that, is a genius. The guy that sang that song to mark the opening of The 87th Academy Awards Ceremony (featuring one of our top hosts: Anna Kendrick) is a legend. Yes, you got it! Neil Patrick Harris, also known as NPH is too awesome to handle!
I enjoyed every moment with NPH. His jokes were on point, his suits were well tailored and his amazing personality kept me glued to my screen. I even watched the commercials LOL!
However, I wasn’t impressed with him as the host of the evening. You’re probably thinking:

“Gosh Enzer, what do you want? Will anyone ever impress you?”

Answer: Yes. Ellen DeGeneres did! NPH (when speaking) seemed a little nervous at the beginning of the show. It felt like it hadn’t sunk in that he was actually hosting The Oscars, Hollywood’s biggest night. Thankfully, he eased into it after the first hour or so and closed it off well with a few not so memorable moments in-between.

Conclusion: Ellen vs NPH? Ellen wins. Whatever she touches turns into gold, clearly. NPH was like an announcer instead of a host. He was supposed to make us feel at home (he did so well when he hosted The Emmys and The Tonys) but instead, I felt like an unwanted child.
However, I wouldn’t mind if he hosted the next Oscars. Anyone besides Seth Mcfarlane, Anne Hathaway and James Franco will do. A long ceremony like The Oscars can never go wrong with a host like NPH.

Moving on, I loved the lineup! The music performances were the best thing that’s ever happened on an Oscars stage. Jennifer Hudson, Lady GaGa, Rita Ora, Common with John Legend all killed it. The stage which they performed on was exquisite. If you’re planning a ceremony of such (The Oscars) caliber, Sunday night’s shindig could teach you a lot. I enjoyed all the presentations of awards featuring people like Lupita Nyong’o, Sean Penn, Jennifer Aniston and Miles Teller who all contributed to making the telecast a great television special. If there’s another awards ceremony out there that tops this year’s Oscars, please let me know.

AI is live this week! I am already in love with the TOP 24; I cannot wait to get to experience the rest of this season with them. Sadly, some good singers were sent home in last week’s episode but hopefully they’ll try again next year.

Thanks for clicking on the link. Here’s #TheRoundUp

HOT ON TV

Being Mary Jane on BET is winning! The series premiered in 2014, rocked our world and keeps adding on the EYE CANDY – I never want it to end! The storyline/s attached to the lead character Mary Jane Paul played by actress Gabrielle Union, is/are one of a kind, a little complicated but worth watching. This adult drama also has multiple sex scenes (surprise, surprise) which, to be honest are pretty well done but may be a little too raunchy for our ‘clean’ crowd out there, LOL.
Am I impressed with Gabrielle’s (she has a beautiful name) acting in this series? Sadly, I would’ve given the job to another actress. However, if the enthralling plot, the sexy cast and the outstanding production are taken into consideration then the Being Mary Jane team gets a ‘thumbs up’. I can’t wait to see what the show has in store!

The Oscars are live this Sunday! I had initially set myself up for a BORE-FEST, but after all the hype that has been building up since the nominees announcement, guess what – I’m already hooked like a fish stuck on Fisherman Rob’s hook, LOL. The 2014 Oscar Telecast is recognized by the EW Board as the Outstanding Televised Event 2014/15. Hopefully this year’s ceremony will keep the night at The Oscars ‘on top of our world.’

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 11

Love is in the air. Here’s #TheRoundUp

HOT ON TV

I am addicted to Modern Family on ABC

Somebody, please HELP me because the Modern Family Gods have me chained to my couch all year long, LOL.

I mean, who isn’t in love with the show? The cast, the writing team, the production – everything is simply the best.

Making it even more special are the outstanding couples that the creators have created for us.

My favorite: Mitchell Pritchett (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron Tucker (played by Eric Stonestreet), the match made in gay heaven. Those two and their little girl (Lily Tucker-Pritchett played by Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) are the dream. I can only wish I had a daughter as smart as the character Lily (for reasons I’ll never disclose, sorry, LOL).

On the other side, a not so impressive comedy series that is surprisingly still on-the-air and could possibly be renewed for a second season is NAACP Image Award winning series Blackish, also airing on ABC. I find the storylines and humor quite offensive and unnecessary. The production and the cast are flawless but the storyline/premise/plot is just not working for me. The first episodes (about three) were ok; sadly it went downhill from there onwards.

Moving on, another popular series that has Americans and many other people around the world gushing is the exciting ABC thriller Scandal. The love triangle between President Fitz, Jack Ballard and Lady Olivia Pope is one of my favorite fictional love triangles of all time. I get annoyed a lot when Olivia hops back and forth between The President and Jack’s bedroom but on the other hand all the drama that tags along with her makes it all worthwhile. The fourth season kicked off on a low (if you ask me), hopefully it will end on a high and leave us wanting more.

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) took place last Sunday and were broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Three in the UK. I enjoyed this year’s ceremony. I thought it was more exciting than last year’s edition. What I like about the BAFTAs is that the production team behind the event always gets it right. The content is sometimes slow and boring but everything else looks good on TV.

The Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony, dubbed as music’s biggest night, took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this past Sunday and aired live on CBS. I don’t get why The Grammys’ producers haven’t changed the stage. If I’m not mistaken, the same stage/s design has been used for the past four years or so. It looked dated and small on TV. Hello, it’s a live telecast; it must look good on TV.
However, if they made their stage smaller so that they could fit more people into the arena, then I guess it wasn’t so bad after all. (Lol, no, I don’t totally agree with that viewpoint).
Another aspect that might need to change is the host. Like many, I adore LL Cool J. He is so cool, so talented and speaks well but I don’t think his hosting skills are useful on a show like The Grammys. Don’t get me wrong, this is not an attack on LL Cool J! Many music award ceremonies are bearable without hosts awkwardly interrupting, introducing, etc. people and segments.
Only ceremonies like the Golden Globes and The Oscars need a host. You want proof? Well, watch The Oscars on ABC later this month and see how Neil Patrick Harris will liven up the already dull line-up of proceedings. Oh, you still want more proof? Well, how about the fact that millions are disappointed that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey won’t be hosting the next Golden Globes, huh?

MUSIC SPOT

The music performances at last Sunday’s Grammy Awards were off the hook. I like the fact that The Grammys always appreciate all those golden oldie classics and timeless hits and uniquely blend them with a few of our favorite modern sounds to make the telecast a spectacle.
Did you enjoy Madonna’s performance? If you didn’t enjoy Madonna’s performance then you need to sleep (I don’t know what else to say because I don’t understand why anybody would’ve not enjoyed her performance).

 OMG, I loved it!

She gave us a performance like no other.

There hasn’t been such a powerful performance on The Grammy stage in years. She is a rose among thorns. (Don’t ask me who the thorns are LOL).

Other performances that stood out for me were performances by Rihanna with Kanye West and Paul McCartney, country star Miranda Lambert, Sam Smith with Mary J. Blige, Sia and the glorious Common with John Legend. I’m sad that Taylor Swift didn’t perform but I get it. The classy affair was memorable anyways.

MUSIC ALBUM ROCKING OUR WORLD:-
V (Five) by Maroon 5
Songs we like: Maps, Animals, Sugar

DAILY INSPIRATION

How often do we lose sight of the present and its golden opportunities for rich living? In our early years we fritter away so much of our time in trivia, in activities with very little lasting meaning, and as we grow older; in the rush and hurry of our overly-ambitious lives, we seem to have lost our sense of perspective. Endlessly we worry and strive, watching the passage of time with dread, suddenly awakening to the truth that life somehow is passing us by.

SPEAK OUT

#SpecialDays
The 14th of February is Valentine’s Day! In honor of the saint of love Enzer’s World (EW) has decided to shine the light on some of our favorite celeb couples.

Prince William & Kate Middleton: - I don’t think there’s any other royal couple that could top these two. They have the looks, the money, and an adorable baby boy who was featured on one of GQ’s Best Dressed Lists. Kate is living every little girl’s dream. Hopefully Will and Kate’s marriage will last, unlike Charles and Diana’s controversial union.

Beyonce & Jay Z: - Oh I just love this couple. What sets them apart from the rest is the fact that they dated for about seven years before finally tying the knot. If that is not an exemplary celeb relationship then I’m a dead goldfish in one of Richard Branson’s fish tanks.

Guiliana & Bill Rancic: - I admire these two so much I wish every couple could be like them. If what’s portrayed in their reality show is REALITY then I’m all for team G&B. Plus, how adorable is their little boy Duke?

COUPLE WE WISH COULD GET BACK TOGETHER?
Jason Derulo & Jordin Sparks: - I was so disappointed when Jason and Jordin broke up because I had already mapped out their future together with two kids living in an affluent suburb on the West Coast, LOL. Sadly, it seems like it’ll take a miracle for them to get back together because they’ve been at each other's throats for weeks. I hope they’re happy.

Song: Break Free

I’m glad we got to see another side of Ariana! I hope she releases more electronic tunes, with Zedd (preferably).

Jessie killed it. I want to say that 2 Chainz may have been the lucky rapper who got approached to feature but on the other hand he probably was the best man for the job considering how well all the songs he featured on performed on the charts.
