Scene One
[Scene opens at Camry Residence, in the lounge. Julia has an ice pack placed on her head. Celeste is seated near her. A police officer is concluding her inquiry, seated]
Police Officer:
Is that all?
Celeste:
Yes officer.
Police Officer:
[Stands]
Alright then. We can only declare her a missing person after 72 hours but we will be in touch when we find out more about who the body parts belong to and how they could’ve ended up here.
Celeste:
Thank you for your help officer.
[Officer leaves house]
Julia:
This has Kwame written all over it.
Celeste:
You can’t be so sure. It could be anybody. I just hope Flora is okay wherever she is.
Julia:
[Begins to weep, moments later]
I feel like the world is ending Celeste.
Celeste:
[Hugs Julia]
Oh Julia…
Julia:
All I wanted was a baby of my own. David couldn’t. He couldn’t give me a baby. What was I supposed to do? I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I just wanted to be happy.
Celeste:
You did what you had to do to make yourself happy, and I will always respect you for that.
Julia:
But I keep hurting myself and everyone I care about.
Celeste:
Because you’re good person Julia.
[Looks Julia in the eye]
Hey, we will get through this. Flora will be back with us soon. She is a strong girl that will do us proud.
[Pauses]
They won’t get away with this.
Scene Two
[Opens at the Roosevelt Mansion the next morning. Jake and Zack are in one of the guest-rooms]
Jake:
The lab confirmed that I was drugged last night.
Zack:
How is that even possible man? I was with you at the bar area the whole time.
Jake:
It must’ve been an inside job.
Zack:
That does not make any sense at all. Why would anyone want to drug you?
Jake:
I don’t know Zack.
Zack:
Isn’t there anything you can do to find out who it is?
Jake:
That’s almost impossible. It could be anybody.
Zack:
[Places a hand on his shoulder, to console him]
How’s your mom?
Jake:
In the worst state I’ve ever seen her in. She’s blaming my dad for all of this and she won’t stop crying. I feel like its her saddest moment in life you know. I don’t even know what to say or think or do…
[Tears start rolling down his eyes]
How can someone be so cruel, and so merciless?
Zack:
Hey I’m sorry man.
[Hugs Jake]
Scene Three
[Opens in Roger’s Home Office at the Roosevelt Mansion]
Roger:
[Paces around, stops to sip some whiskey and then continues pacing until his phone rings]
Hello? Yes this is Roger Roosevelt. Aha. Just tell me. Do the body parts belong to my daughter?
[Pauses for a response]
Drops his whiskey glass.
Josh:
[Walks in hurriedly]
Dad, are you okay?
[Places a hand on Roger’s shoulder]
Roger:
[Pulls away]
I’m fine. Just a little…
[He hangs up the call]
Josh:
A little what?
[Roger’s phone rings again]
Roger:
[Takes a minute before answering the call]
Roger Roosevelt speaking. Yes of course I know where The Roose Hotel is, I own it! Now? Right now? Who is this?
[Caller hangs up]
Josh:
Who was that?
Roger:
Some woman wants to meet with me at the hotel. She says she has all the answers.
[Looks to Josh for a response]
Josh:
Answers?
[Pauses]
You thinking about going over there?
Roger:
Maybe its just someone looking for money. I need to head over there anyway. It might take my mind off of things.
Josh:
Then I’m coming with you.
Roger:
[Responds instantly]
No! Its okay, I’ll be fine. You stay here and take care of your mother, okay? Love you son.
Josh:
Love you too dad.
[Roger walks out]
Scene Four
[Opens with Roger entering The Roose Hotel. He is greeted by hotel staff as he walks to the reception. He asks a reception staffer about any mysterious guests before heading to his apartment on the top floor of the hotel building. Hotel staff greet him throughout]
Roger:
[Walks into his apartment, turns the lights on. He then realizes that someone is in the room too. He assumes its room service doing their rounds]
Why are you only servicing my room at this time? And in the dark?
[Kwame turns to face him. Roger, surprised, begins to breathe heavily]
What are you doing here? What are you doing here?
[Attempts to pull out his gun]
Mya:
Not so fast mister.
[Standing behind Roger, she hits him on the head before he falls to the ground and becomes unconscious]
