#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 29
HOT ON TV
The 2015 edition of the CMT Music Awards aired
live on CMT this past week. I got to watch the show live and tweeted during the
ceremony about a few of the highs and lows.
Check out some of the tweets!
Simply type “#EWLiveTweet #CMTAwards” into your
Twitter Search Bar
…and all the tweets will appear on your screen.
Back to the telecast, the show was arguably one
of the best ceremonies of the year. I didn’t really get why the producers
decided to have two hosts (am I missing out on a trend?) but it wasn’t a bad
idea. Erin Andrews and Brittany Snow seemed very comfortable working together
and presenting on such a big stage. I missed Kristen Bell. I hate to say this
(I hope Erin and Brittany won’t punch me in the face), but she is up there with
Ellen DeGeneres. She is phenomenal.
The performances were ‘borderline boring.’ Lady
Antebellum opened the show (loved it) and the whole of the American Country
Music Community followed suit (or at least it seemed that way). Zac Brown Band
had the best vocal performance and Jack Owen had the most fun performance. Carrie
Underwood also sang well. She took it back home i.e. she sang like an American
Idol contestant on the verge of elimination. The only difference was that she
sang like a PRO, wait, SHE IS A PRO – LOL.
The biggest winner was, wait for it – CARRIE UNDERWOOD.
That success was not expected. Just when one thought that Carrie’s light was beginning
to dim, she pulls off this one. Congratulations Mrs. Fisher (is she using her
husband’s last name?); surely there was SOMETHING IN THE WATER.
THE PRODUCTION: Couldn’t be better! The stage,
the lighting, the lineup, and the graphics – it all worked out and looked great
on TV.
Does this mean that the CMT Awards Team will
receive the Enzer’s World (E.W.) 2015 Outstanding Televised Event Recognition? Keep
following E.W. to find out!

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 28
HOT ON TV
Cucumber & Banana: Odd names for two LGBTI-Friendly
shows that aired earlier this year. I didn’t enjoy Cucumber (aired on Channel 4
in the U.K.) at all. The storyline is plain boring but the lead actor, Vincent Franklin (Henry Best) is
one to watch. He fits in so well and makes the show unique. The other series, Banana, which aired on E4 in the U.K., is pretty good. I like
that it’s a fresh take on the youth of the LGBTI Community. There’s lots of sex
(of course) and the dramatic cliff hangers make me want to slap someone (the
writers) in the face.
Should both shows get a second season?
It’s a NO for Cucumber and a MAYBE for Banana.
I’d be happy if someone out there created another LGBTI-Friendly series. Try
that and see if we like it.
