#TheRoundUp By Enzer - No. 80
HOT ON TV
New to Fox (USA) is The Floor (USA).
It's not only HOT ON TV; it's the best trivia game show on television in the history of trivia game shows on television.
Yes, it beats many quiz shows that I have blogged about, including Weakest Link (USA, NBC), The Chase (USA, ABC USA), Lingo (USA, CBS), and People Puzzler (USA, Game Show Network).
I kid you not!
The format was carefully thought through, such that I'll never see myself getting bored of tuning in.
The game that begins with a floor, initially divided into almost a hundred rectangles representing almost a hundred players and subjects, ends with only two players battling it out for a quarter of a million dollars.
The SOUND is sometimes iffy, but the host (Rob Lowe) is impeccable.
Oh, and I adore the crop of players. They seem like such great personalities. Yeah...#totally redefining the ordinary.
Hopefully, we will get another season of this.
Another show that's #BUZZING these days, Where Is Wendy Williams? (USA, Lifetime) has to be one of the most dramatic reality TV releases of the year. #Unmissable #NotAMinuteWasted
HOTTER:
The seventh season of Elite (Spain, Netflix) premiered in November of 2023 with somber and unusual storylines, if you ask me.
I guess the change of characters that happens almost every season has taken a toll on the series - 'coz it got canceled.
I can't wait to find out what the final season has in store, though.
*Elite is Enzer's World, E.W.'s Outstanding Fictional Series – Drama (Television) for the 11th E.W. Year, 2023.
Thankfully, producers of The Voice (USA, NBC) keep breathing new life into the show.
Country Music duo Dan + Shay are coaching as a duo in a first for the U.S. version.
Yeah, that's exciting.
*The Voice is E.W.'s Outstanding Reality Series – Talent, Musical (Television) for the 11th E.W. Year, 2023.
Then, there were the Academy Awards/Oscars.
The 2024 edition, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, was full of surprises that mesmerized us all.
The ratings are also up, not as high as they were ten to twenty years ago, but they're up.
Sadly, if I recall correctly, the movie Maestro did not win any Oscars.
Oppenheimer won a couple.
And does it not bother you that Ken's I'm Just Ken kinda stole the spotlight from Barbie?
Argh, the patriarchy.

A.I. UPDATE:
It's been reported that Katy Perry might leave the judging table after the end of the current season of American Idol (A.I.) on ABC USA.
Thoughts on that?
Katy Perry is a good judge and great on-screen. She's up there with Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez.
They might not find a suitable replacement, if the reports are accurate.
Who could they possibly fill that all-important chair with?
It won't be a male superstar or expert; that's pretty clear.
My guesses are Ellie Goulding, Alanis Morissette, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Tori Kelly, Bebe Rexha. Gabby Barrett and Lauren Alaina might be too young.
It won't be Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Clarkson, or Jennifer Hudson. #Obviously
And if it's not a woman, then maybe Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, or Kris Allen (Kris Allen is a random guess, I know).
The current/twenty-second season is doing well. It premiered with auditions from the judges' hometowns, which was pretty cool.
Can't wait to find out what other surprises the producers have lined up.

E.W. GLOBAL:
Like its U.S. counterpart, The Floor— A la conquete du sol (France), which premiered on France 2 (France), is one show that instantly won me over.
Hosted by Cyril Feraud, this quiz show is so fun to watch and play along to.
And thankfully, there are no sound issues on this version.
Ah, c'est magnifique.
There's this show, Red Ink (South Africa, Showmax), about a serial killer who gets caught and is jailed for years but somehow finds someone on the outside who is willing to tell his side of the story through the publication of a book.
That might seem bizarre, but the show is hella riveting. The leads, the set designs - everything is just well done. Well done.
#Speechless
And then there's this other show titled Youngins (South Africa, Showmax). This one is about a group of high school kids who are just being kids by trying to make the most of their time in boarding school.
The cast is diverse and shines on screen.
I've never come across anything like this series before.
It showcased its production team's abilities. #StandsOut
*Showmax (South Africa) is E.W. Global's Best Television Channel/Network/Station/Platform for the 11th E.W. Year, 2023.
The latest iteration of Australian Idol (Australia, Seven Network) is in a league of its own. Following the ABC USA format, the show allows staunch viewers to recapture Idol moments without the datedness of the older version. The hosts are great, the judges are great too, and the contestants are beloved.
Yeah, I'm not missing a second of any Idol moment too!
Other Shows to Watch:
- Adulting (South Africa, Showmax)
- Madlela Comes Home (Zimbabwe, ZTN Prime)
- Magenta Coal (South Africa, Netflix)
- Trompoppie (South Africa, Showmax)
#TotallyGlobal
THROWBACK:
Okay, I must admit, the writers were beginning to run out of steam, even though I wanted the show to continue.
And hey, nobody told me that this revival was similar to the original '80s series, which I could not devote much of my time to. #SoBoring #SoNotBingeworthy
It gave life to characters like Fallon Carrington played by Elizabeth Gillies (her lines are to die for, kudos to the Dynasty writing room), Adam Carrington played by Sam Underwood (Fallon's odd brother), and our forever golden EYE CANDY for television, Liam played by Adam Huber (Fallon's love interest turned husband) – to mention a few.
Those were iconic characters, I tell ya.
*Dynasty has been nominated twenty-one times for E.W. Recognitions in Television.
*During the 10th E.W. Recognitions Period, the show won its first and only recognition, Outstanding Family (Fictional Television) for the characters:
- Fallon;
- Blake (Grant Show);
- Cristal (Daniella Alonso);
- Alexis (Elaine Hendrix);
- Sam (Rafael de la Fuente);
- Adam;
- Dominique (Michael Michele);
- Jeff (Sam Adegoke);
- Liam;
- Amanda (Eliza Bennett).
*Elizabeth Gillies won for Outstanding Actress during the 7th E.W. Recognitions Period, 2019.
*Rafael de la Fuente won E.W. Queer's Outstanding Actor recognition for the 6th E.W. Year, 2018.

DAILY INSPIRATION
Ambition and energy are the key elements in making things happen.
A brilliant, talented, and creative person will only accomplish a little if they lack drive, energy, and ambition.
You will transform your entire life as you increase your aspirations, enthusiasm, and energy.
The following energy-increasing technique suggested by Zelig Pliskin has proved to be a powerful exercise for many people:
'Imagine a source of great energy surrounding you. Visualize this wonderful energy permeating your entire being. Close your eyes as you feel every cell and every neuron in your body recharging with great energy. Breathe deeply and slowly as the energy source is recharging your energy stores. Think of what it was like to have high energy levels in the past and what it will be like to have even higher energy levels in the future. As you continue breathing, allow each breath to increase your energy flow. Think of all the benefits you will gain as your energy recharges.'

"When we accept tough jobs as a challenge to our ability and wade into them with joy and enthusiasm, miracles can happen." - ARLAND GILBERT
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." - CARL SAGAN

"Every action of our lives touches on some chord that will vibrate in eternity." - EDWIN HUBBEL CHAPIN
"We need a renaissance of wonder. We need to renew, in our hearts and in our souls, the deathless dream, the eternal poetry, the perennial sense that life is miracle and magic." - E. MERRILL ROOT

"Live your beliefs, and you can turn the world around." - HENRY DAVID THOREAU

FLICK PICK
Here are E.W.'s latest picks:
Upgraded (USA, Amazon Prime Video):
- Camila Mendes (Ana) stars in the film alongside Archie Renaux (William) in one of Camila's best performances ever. It's a good one, I tell ya.
Mean Girls (USA, Syndicated):
- Starring a killer cast, including Renee Rapp (Regina George), this revamp is #totally relevant and shies away from being overly musical. Well done, Tina Fey and co.
Beautiful Wedding (USA, Syndicated):
- The sequel to Beautiful Disaster (USA, Syndicated). It's a great sequel. A great follow-up. A third release would do well, too, even though this series seems like a more fiery version of the After (USA) series during some moments.
*Beautiful Disaster is E.W. Global's Favorite Movie – USA for the 11th E.W. Year, 2023.
