#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 34
HOT ON TV
However, judging by how popular and successful (awards, recognitions, etc.) the show is, one could bet a million bucks that the show will be around for a long time. Congratulations on your Emmy win.
THE TELECAST: The 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards aired live from Los Angeles on Fox.
Hey, I live tweeted during the ceremony!
Check out all of the tweets by simply typing in:
" #EWLiveTweet #Emmys #EmmyAwards "
…into your Twitter Search Bar and all of the tweets will appear on your screen.
The Voice USA on NBC, Veep on HBO and Game of Thrones on HBO won top honors (not really surprised) and Viola Davis made history.
The event was boring. The first hour with Andy Samberg wasn't so bad. He was very present and in control of the stage, the proceedings and cracked jokes that were noteworthy. However, compared to Neil Patrick Harris and Seth Meyers, Andy gets the third place on that list. He is the star of one of Fox's good shows, but would be better off hosting the VMAs and not the Emmys. Disagree?
The stage was exceptional. I loved the lights, the design and the screens - it was majestic. Only The Oscars' stage can compete with that. The presenters were well behaved (except for one or two, I'm looking at you Anthony Anderson) and the exquisite gowns and suits were in abundance. I personally loved Gina Rodriguez's gown. She wore it like she was a queen.
How do you judge menswear on the red carpet, though? Almost every guy wears a black suit, and all of them look-alike, so how is it possible to judge their style?
Overall, the show was draining and lacked so much. It felt like the producers had not prepared to broadcast the ceremony on television but had only prepared that set for the announcement of the winners. That's how bad it was if you get it. I'm not sure if I'll be tuning in next time. #ConvinceMe
America's Got Talent (AGT) aired the Season 10 Finale episode last week on NBC. Compared to Season 9, this finale was a mediocre affair. Yes, it was a bad week for ‘Hollywood', even AGT caught the bug. The final performances were fun to watch, but the ‘climax' made it all forgettable.
HIGHLIGHT: Howard Stern's farewell message. After a couple of seasons as a judge on AGT, Howard bade farewell during the finale to a crowd and viewers that were sad to see him exit.
QUESTION: Who will replace Howard Stern? The AGT bosses must find a replacement! Howard's seat needs to be filled by a personality who is similar. Like his name, Howard was stern, honest and wasted no time. If they don't find someone like him, things might not go well. Oh, I'd also like to see Ellen DeGeneres on the show! I know that I recommend Ellen for almost everything, but this time I honestly feel that Ellen would feel at home on AGT. Hey, how about five judges? Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Ellen DeGeneres and a fifth judge who is as stern as Stern - a memorable Season 11.
The Miss America pageant aired live a week ago on ABC and I loved it! That was American entertainment at its best. The show kicked off with spectacular introductions accompanied by current hit singles that are on replay and on a stage that not only served its purpose but had my eyes locked. The ladies looked stunning. I mean, who wouldn't marry all of them? They presented themselves graciously and if all could walk away with the title; that would not be an issue at all.
I'd watch the show over and over again because it was refreshing and filled with positivity. Well done Miss America!

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 33
HOT ON TV
The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Fox and will be hosted by Andy Samberg who stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Jake Peralta. I'm looking forward to what he has in store for everybody who's going to be watching (totally dude) because I find him very funny.
Neil Patrick Harris and Seth Meyers impressed the Enzer's World (E.W.) Board when they hosted the previous editions such that they both won E.W. Recognitions. So, Andy has a tough job and a lot to prove when he takes the stage on September 20th when the 2015 Emmys air live on Fox from Downtown Los Angeles.
NOMINEES: The list is not bad. A number of very well produced shows have been nominated – clearly the voters did a good job. Though the E.W. Board is (obviously) not in agreement with most of the chosen few, the telecast is MUST SEE TV.
PREDICTIONS:
Outstanding Comedy Series: Modern Family on ABC. This comedy series is on another level. The past season was simply riveting. Kudos to everybody involved, you guys totally deserve that Emmy. I have nothing else to say about that.
Outstanding Drama Series: Orange Is The New Black on Netflix. Season 1 and 2 should sit down for a bit. Hell, season 3 brought it! If this show doesn't win that all important Emmy this year, then the voters are just homophobic #LOL, yes just.
Outstanding Variety Talk Series: Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. What a wonderful late night entertainment program. Yes, Jimmy Fallon's show on NBC is at par but c'mon, you have to admit that Kimmel has the ‘x-factor', at least for the past television year.
Outstanding Variety Sketch Series: Saturday Night Live (SNL) on NBC. The 40th Season was the worst since I started watching SNL, but I'd still pick it because that's the only nominated sketch show I'd tune in to watch.
Outstanding Limited Series: American Horror Story – Freak Show on FX. Another disappointing season but still bearable. Hopefully, Hotel will kill it.
Outstanding Reality-Competition Program: The Voice on NBC should win this year, how about that? I mean, those guys really work hard to produce a high-quality program. They might not spend as much as The Amazing Race on CBS, but they definitely attract all the relevant demographics. Besides all of that, the show is so entertaining and screams EXCITEMENT.
Outstanding Actors/Actresses: William H. Macy (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series), Edie Falco (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), Liev Schreiber/Kevin Spacey (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series) are my picks. As for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award, I can't make up my mind. We will have to wait and see who takes that one.
Hotter:
The Wendy Williams Show, The Rachel Ray Show, The Doctors, The Dr. Oz Show, The Real, Dancing with the Stars (on ABC), The Dr. Phil Show, The Talk (on CBS) and Family Feud (U.S.) are all premiering new seasons this week. Your schedules must be packed; I have no idea how most viewers are going to keep up.
America's Got Talent on NBC will air its tenth season finale live this week. The season has been the best so far (I don't want it to end) and I can't wait to party on the finale (they always have superb finales).
Throwback:
Did you watch The 2015 Miss USA Pageant which aired on the Reelz Channel in July? Despite all the controversy surrounding the competition, the organizers managed to pull off an awesome event. Olivia Jordan (Miss Oklahoma) won the title for this year (ironic) and will be representing the United States in the next Miss Universe competition. Don't you think it is unfair that the other countries don't get as much exposure as the ladies from the U.S.? That might be a pretty dumb question to some, right?
Another beauty pageant, Miss Teen USA aired Online at the end of August 2015. One thing I noticed was how small the stage was. The girls were crammed on stage and it didn't look good at all. However, the young ladies impressed me (and I'm sure many others) because they were well-spoken and have good heads on their shoulders. It's unbelievable that they are teenagers, seriously!

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 32
All around the World!
HOT ON TV
MILEY CYRUS AT THE VMAs:
Why is everyone so focused on Miley’s
transformation and wild antics? Yes, I know that what she’s doing and how she’s
doing whatever she’s doing is worth talking (or gossiping) about (oh, and I bet
magazines with her on the cover are selling like hot cakes too) but on the
other hand I feel like most people are missing the point.
The point?
Yes, the point!
Miley Cyrus has one of the most beautifully structured
bodies in Hollywood. Nobody ever
talks about that! Every time I see Miley
Cyrus on the red carpet or on stage performing, her body always captures my
attention. It looks fit and healthy and her skin is perfection (I’d love to touch
it). Her outfits are very revealing (according to some) but in 2015, I am not
complaining. Miley, if you’ve got it,
flaunt it, work it and show it off ‘till it cracks! #Done
NOW, BACK TO THE SHOW: I had a good time! The
2015 MTV Video Music Awards aired live from Los
Angeles on MTV in a theatre
filled with Hollywood stars of note. Nicki Minaj
opened the ceremony with a
performance that celebrated her roots and femininity. She was later joined on
stage by another Enzer’s World (E.W.) Top Celeb, Taylor “Tay Tay” Swift. Other
performances that I enjoyed were by Demi
Lovato with Iggy Azalea, The Weekend (who is to die for, OMG), Justin Bieber as well as Tori Kelly (the treasure with an angelic
voice). Miley Cyrus closed the
ceremony with a LGBTI themed performance.
#Unexpected
Everyone was dressed to the nines. Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj (main show), Demi
Lovato (red carpet), Gigi Hadid, Tori Kelly and Selena Gomez had me drooling for hours. Their outfits looked
expensive, high-end and fit their bodies perfectly. I mean, who wouldn’t want
to wear one of those?
The line-up of friendly presenters (Britney Spears, Rebel Wilson, Nick Jonas
amongst others) that handed moon-men to winners including Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj
and Big Sean added opulence to the
event by swiftly redirecting our minds from
Miley’s dramatic moments, for about a second or two. #LOL
She did well though! She has to be one of the
best hostesses in the history of such events because she had us all, right
there in the palm of her hand. She was confident, she delivered her lines
effortlessly and she rocked whatever she had on. That stage, that night was hers
– the queen.
The pre-show wasn’t so bad either. I got to live
tweet during the show which featured performances by Walk the Moon and Nick Jonas
and was presented by Sway and Kelly Osbourne (who had a jungle of
confusion resting on her head).

Has the countdown to the 2016 MTV VMAs begun?
DOWN UNDER: Season 4 of The Voice Australia was off the hook! If you missed it, you missed
out BIG TIME! The Singing-Competition Series which airs on Channel 9 in Australia has to be the best produced reality show so
far (arguably). Everyone and everything that has anything to do with the show
BAGGED IT. I enjoyed every single episode and all of the contestants didn’t
disappoint at all. The production team is phenomenal and the coaches (Jessie J, The Madden Brothers, Ricky
Martin and Delta Goodrem) made it
all relevant, globally. The show MUST BE RENEWED for a fifth season, please.
The finale proceedings concluded the season well.
The final performances (coaches’ duets with teammates, etc.) were refreshing
and entertaining. My favorites were Jessie
J’s duet with winner Ellie Drennan
singing Halo (by Beyonce) as well as Joel
Madden’s duet with Joe Moore
singing Demons (by Imagine Dragons).
How was it?
It was spectacular, golden, and flawless
(close).
Congratulations to winner Ellie Drennan. 16 years old but packaged exceptionally.
Hotter:
The X-Factor
UK kicked off its twelfth season (or series) this past Saturday on ITV UK. Simon Cowell and his team did well, I was impressed. I was
introduced to all the new faces (Rita Ora,
Olly Murs, Nick Grimshaw and Caroline
Flack) in an easy way such that by the end of the premiere episode, it
seemed like they’d been on the show for ages. Good for us, good for you!
Olly Murs and Caroline Flack are doing a good job as hosts but Olly seems to be outshining Caroline (already). I really hope to see
more of Caroline’s personality shine
because she seems like a nice one and a great fit for TV. Sadly, that may be a
challenge. She’s sharing the spotlight with this successful singing sensation
who everybody in the English speaking world knows by name, tell me how you’d
beat that?
Simon is still Simon, and that is not a bad thing at
all – he is so addictive… (I’ll leave the rest to your imagination). Cheryl and
her ‘uncommon’ English accent are always a pleasure. #LOL
Hey! I got to Live Tweet during the X-Factor UK Season 12 Premiere! Wanna

Celebrity Big Brother UK (dubbed UK vs US) also launched the sixteenth
season of the series a few days ago which has already generated numerous
headlines, globally. A bunch of ‘crazy’ celebrities from the United Kingdom and
the United States have been ‘squashed’ into a pretty house (somewhere) in order
to create memorable TV – Good Luck. #LOL
Why isn’t the U.S. version of Big Brother equally exciting? Umm, that’s
a call for help.
In South Africa (I know, right?) Idols South Africa kicked off the
eleventh season live shows (which air exclusively on M-Net and Mzansi Magic in
Southern Africa) in a packed theatre with a cast that has tongues wagging. The
series is the second Idols competition
to reach ten seasons.
SIDE NOTE: in the past, the show has welcomed a number of
international stars as judges, mentors or performers including Ciara, John Legend, Craig David,
Gorgon City and James Blunt. #PrettyCoolForSA
HONEST OPINION: American Idol could be (close to) five times better. Shhhh.
Back in America, Alison Sweeney is leaving The
Biggest Loser on NBC! After
bidding farewell to Days of Our Lives
(airing on NBC) last year, Alison has also decided to quit The Biggest Loser.
SIDE NOTE: Alison Sweeney is an E.W. Top TV Hostess.
Here’s an idea: Would a reality show that follows Alison ‘everywhere’ be such a bad idea? Think about it.
Also making headlines a few weeks ago was Giuliana Rancic’s sudden exit from the E! News on-air panel. I was shocked, sad
but also happy for her at the same time. According to numerous sources, Giuliana rejuvenated E! News by introducing new concepts that
came to fruition during her time on the show and impressed everybody interested.
She was also an amazing TV hostess who was a joy to watch each weekday. Luckily,
she will still appear on other E!
shows like Fashion Police and E! Live From The Red Carpet – that’s
better than nothing, right? Oh, and the beautiful Maria Menounos replaced her. That can never be bad news.
Throwback:
Hot in Cleveland (aired on TV Land) ended its TV run in June after
six seasons of popular humor (mixed with loads of sarcasm) courtesy of Elka Ostrovsky (played by Betty White). The show was incredible!
The producers and writers took countless risks, cast indelible actors as guest
stars and it all paid off in the end. The main cast was outstanding – Valerie Bertinelli (Melanie), Jane Leeves (Joy), Wendie Malick (Victoria)
and Betty White must be taken
seriously because they popularized TV
Land and proved to critics that age is just a number, any objections?
What made it special?
Whilst hooked on Hot in Cleveland, I totally forgot that hit TV series The Golden Girls ever aired.
Question: How cool was Lip Sync Battle on Spike?
Blow my mind right now dude because it was
insane! The hippest host in the history of hipness, Mr. LL Cool J
(assisted by Chrissy
Teigen) welcomed ‘ridic’ celebs (Anne
Hathaway, Jimmy Fallon, Dwayne Johnson, Taraji P. Henson amongst others) onto the Battle stage to an audience that was ready for World War 3 like a
decade ago. Now that was entertainment. That is what our schedules lacked and
that should get a second season. If you are too blind to see that, then honey
you need to join the aliens in Outer Space, A.S.A.P. #DropsMic MUSIC SPOT
