HOT ON TV

Baby Daddy premiered on ABC (USA) in 2012, caught the attention of millions worldwide and had me glued to my small screen year after year. The show which ended its T.V. run on Freeform after six seasons is proof that a well-written sitcom can stand the test of time.

The first season of the show is undoubtedly the best season of a sitcom to ever air on American screens because of the plot, the direction the series took throughout its initial run and the nominations it received during the first Enzer’s World (E.W.) Recognitions Period. Sadly, the other five seasons that followed were not so impressive.

Lead actor Jean-Luc Bilodeau who starred as Ben Wheeler won the Top Actor Recognition during the 3rd E.W. Recognitions Period and continued to do well on the show though his role had simmered. The rest of the cast which included Tahj Mowry (Tucker), Derek Theler (Danny), Melissa Peterman (Bonnie) and Chelsea Kane (Riley) was not only outstanding but was also blessed with good looks which added to the show’s good ratings (of course). Special mention goes out to all the infants that have played the role of Emma. I love infants because they are adorable and cute. Watching Emma season after season never got old.

HOTTER:

The Bachelorette is back for a 13th season on ABC. The lady that is looking for love this year is a successful lawyer with an interesting background. The Bachelor/Bachelorette was beginning to bore me because of the ‘repetition’ but the current setup has somehow given the show a brand new life.

American Idol (A.I.) has been picked up by ABC! I am so excited that the show is coming back with fresh faces as judges and Ryan Seacrest (E.W.’s Top Host) as the preferred host. A.I. made me shed a tear when the final episode aired in 2016 and the news of its return had the same effect. A dream of ours (E.W. Board) came true. I hope the upcoming season of A.I. smashes the ratings charts and silences the critics.

THROWBACK :

Miss USA aired on FOX a couple of weeks ago. That telecast was one of the best I have ever watched. The hosts were well prepared, the contestants were exceptional, the stage and lighting were on point and the T.V. producers that worked so hard to make the night a success deserve multiple awards. This event has set the bar so high because money was well spent.

I also got to watch The 2017 Brit Awards which aired on ITV (UK) in February. I enjoyed most moments including performances by Little Mix, Emeli Sande and Katy Perry. There were a lot of new elements that were added to the event such that the last minute changes (changing hosts) did not jeopardize the production.

I hope you didn’t miss the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards on The Disney Channel which were hosted by five celebrities in L.A. I have no idea where the producers of the show got that idea from but I’m glad the hosts did not disappoint. The show was not better than the previous edition but I won’t miss the next one anyway.

The 2017 Billboard Music Awards were a mess, meaning I got bored. The producers need to come up with something new. Change the stage, the seating arrangements and order of events (maybe even the venue) and maybe, just maybe I’ll watch the whole show. I am glad Ludacris released a song before he hosted the show again because it changed his style of delivery when hosting. To Vanessa Hudgens (she co-hosted), well done.

Scream Queens on FOX: This groundbreaking series concluded its second and final season in 2016 with a bang. The show was always a hit in our world but I’m sure it was time to let the idea go. I still don’t understand why the plot did not work because I really understood the show’s direction. I really hope our Top Actress (Emma Roberts) managed to secure another job because she’s that good. The rest of the cast will also be missed. 

Another hit T.V. series that we bid farewell to before the summer began is Bates Motel on A&E. I really liked that show but it had lost it. Though the fifth and final season was off the hook, I still believe that that is one show that writers failed to keep on the air when they still had time to save it. Most viewers are definitely going to miss Freddie Highmore as Norman and Vera Farmiga as Norma. Oh, and I’m sooooooo gonna buy the book which they got the whole idea from.

#Celebs

We couldn’t end the 5th E.W. Year without mentioning Colton Haynes. Colton is E.W.’s Top L.G.B.T.I. Celeb and Top Model for the U.S. He came out as gay last year and even got engaged thereafter. I’m glad that more and more L.G.B.T.I. celebrities are coming out and leading by example in different ways because it encourages tolerance in our communities especially for an American like Colton.

Anyway, can we talk about how cute he is? I am sure a lot of uhmm men and women (right) were heartbroken when he got engaged because he is the catch of the millennium. If you want to lick some of that EYE CANDY then SPOT HIM on Arrow on The CW and Teen Wolf airing on MTV. What are you waiting for?

HOT ON TV

The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Fox and will be hosted by Andy Samberg who stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Jake Peralta. I'm looking forward to what he has in store for everybody who's going to be watching (totally dude) because I find him very funny.

Neil Patrick Harris and Seth Meyers impressed the Enzer's World (E.W.) Board when they hosted the previous editions such that they both won E.W. Recognitions. So, Andy has a tough job and a lot to prove when he takes the stage on September 20th when the 2015 Emmys air live on Fox from Downtown Los Angeles.

NOMINEES: The list is not bad. A number of very well produced shows have been nominated – clearly the voters did a good job. Though the E.W. Board is (obviously) not in agreement with most of the chosen few, the telecast is MUST SEE TV.

PREDICTIONS:
Outstanding Comedy Series: Modern Family on ABC. This comedy series is on another level. The past season was simply riveting. Kudos to everybody involved, you guys totally deserve that Emmy. I have nothing else to say about that.

Outstanding Drama Series: Orange Is The New Black on Netflix. Season 1 and 2 should sit down for a bit. Hell, season 3 brought it! If this show doesn't win that all important Emmy this year, then the voters are just homophobic #LOL, yes just.

Outstanding Variety Talk Series: Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. What a wonderful late night entertainment program. Yes, Jimmy Fallon's show on NBC is at par but c'mon, you have to admit that Kimmel has the ‘x-factor', at least for the past television year.

Outstanding Variety Sketch Series: Saturday Night Live (SNL) on NBC. The 40th Season was the worst since I started watching SNL, but I'd still pick it because that's the only nominated sketch show I'd tune in to watch.

Outstanding Limited Series: American Horror Story – Freak Show on FX. Another disappointing season but still bearable. Hopefully, Hotel will kill it.

Outstanding Reality-Competition Program: The Voice on NBC should win this year, how about that? I mean, those guys really work hard to produce a high-quality program. They might not spend as much as The Amazing Race on CBS, but they definitely attract all the relevant demographics. Besides all of that, the show is so entertaining and screams EXCITEMENT.

Outstanding Actors/Actresses: William H. Macy (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series), Edie Falco (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), Liev Schreiber/Kevin Spacey  (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series) are my picks. As for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award, I can't make up my mind. We will have to wait and see who takes that one.

Hotter:
The Wendy Williams Show, The Rachel Ray Show, The Doctors, The Dr. Oz Show, The Real, Dancing with the Stars (on ABC), The Dr. Phil Show, The Talk (on CBS) and Family Feud (U.S.) are all premiering new seasons this week. Your schedules must be packed; I have no idea how most viewers are going to keep up.

America's Got Talent on NBC will air its tenth season finale live this week. The season has been the best so far (I don't want it to end) and I can't wait to party on the finale (they always have superb finales).

Throwback:

Did you watch The 2015 Miss USA Pageant which aired on the Reelz Channel in July? Despite all the controversy surrounding the competition, the organizers managed to pull off an awesome event. Olivia Jordan (Miss Oklahoma) won the title for this year (ironic) and will be representing the United States in the next Miss Universe competition. Don't you think it is unfair that the other countries don't get as much exposure as the ladies from the U.S.? That might be a pretty dumb question to some, right?

Another beauty pageant, Miss Teen USA aired Online at the end of August 2015. One thing I noticed was how small the stage was. The girls were crammed on stage and it didn't look good at all. However, the young ladies impressed me (and I'm sure many others) because they were well-spoken and have good heads on their shoulders. It's unbelievable that they are teenagers, seriously!
