#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 43
HOT ON TV
Ladies and
gentlemen – it’s official!
This Is Us, a compelling dramedy (comedy drama)
which began airing on NBC in September is MUST SEE TV.
Does the show really
need an introduction?
Getting
that show on-the-air was one of the best decisions Hollywood execs ever made. The
intriguing storylines swiftly drift back and forth in time and connect in such
a way that I feel abandoned when each episode ends. This has to be what they
refer to as outstanding because the series is perfect.
What about the
cast?
Well, Mandy
Moore plays the role of Rebecca (both young and older) and is killing it! The
last time I watched her on screen (well that’s the last role I remember) was
when she played the role of Jamie in the film A Time to Remember. Her acting style
hasn’t changed but the show would lack something if she wasn’t part of it. Another
actor to look out for is Milo Ventimiglia who plays the role of Jack and is the
hottest guy on TV right now. Looks aside, he is not the most talented actor but
his role doesn’t let him down.
The rest of the cast are good, I don’t believe
they are outstanding but at least I can’t easily spot any flaws. Oh and I’m
happy to see Justin Hartley (Kevin) back on the small screen. He’s pretty face
is definitely a TV wonder.
I’m glad
NBC got it right this time. I’d be sad to hear that the show won’t be renewed
for a second season. #FingersCrossed
HOTTER:
The 2016
American Music Awards (AMAs) were held in L.A. this past Sunday and aired live
on ABC. The event had a star studded lineup (as usual) but it lacked the energy
that previous telecasts possessed. Could it be that Trump’s win is still a
touchy subject amongst Hollywood celebs? Well, I wish I was able to read their
minds to know what had them in a somber mood that night. *sigh*
Jay Pharoah
and Gigi Hadid hosted the show. I enjoyed watching both of them but I still
feel that they only got the job because they are popular and good for TV which
equals high ratings and a large profit which is what this is all about at the
end of the day - blah, blah, blah. However, Gigi improved, I would love for her
to host another awards ceremony. Jay was nervous at the beginning but luckily
he got into the groove later on in the show and sealed the deal.
The
performances were okay, nothing to complain about except for Bruno Mars. He is
an amazing performer but I’m getting tired of listening to his latest hit 24K
Magic. If he opens the next Grammy Awards or the upcoming People’s Choice
Awards, my head will blow up – please stop. The finale was wack! I expected
fireworks from Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar! Thank God their song Don’t Wanna
Know is on repeat – Thank God!
THROWBACK:
Earlier
this month, The 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) were handed out in Rotterdam
and the ceremony was hosted by Bebe Rexha. The show was borderline boring and
lacked the excitement that makes the EMAs the EMAs. The show seems to be
getting worse – I’m worried. I did, however, marvel at the stage and I also
loved the theme of the night. Hiring Bebe was not a mistake, I hope the
producers continue blessing us with new on screen faces because to be honest,
it works.

Have you
ever heard of Jennifer Lopez (JLo)? Of course you have, what am I silly?
I can’t
find a word to describe her success. She is a likeable A-list superstar that
refuses to age (omg, she has an angelic figure). She has a wealth of experience
in the entertainment business and dates only the finest gentleman of Hollywood.
Yes, this
week, we celebrate you JLo.

IN THE NEWS
Donald John Trump will be the next U.S. president! Some
people are mad about that whilst some couldn’t be happier (obviously). Many of
the U.S.’s allies and trading partners weren’t so pleased with the Electoral
College’s decision but with Trump’s change of attitude that has been generating
more annoying headlines, I’m sure his camp has somewhat toned it down. Am I
worried about America’s success? Not at all, I mean, the U.S. is a mighty
country that creates nations and is capable of going at it alone. If there are
states to worry about, it’s the smaller ‘dependants’. As for the undocumented
immigrants, the U.N. has to step in. I am not ready to talk about what is wrong
and what should change between the ‘north’ and ‘south’ because I would be
wasting my time. Politicians have been talking about that problem in fancy
halls during over-celebrated weeks that cost the tax payer millions for years
now. This may sound naïve, but it seems like prayer is the only hope left.

SPEAK OUT
Don’t tell me that you have never heard of the superstar named Troye Sivan because if you do, then it means that you’re probably getting too old for ‘this’ – LOL.
The talented and cute Troye had to be given a moment in the spotlight by Enzer’s World (E.W.) because his global reach that couldn’t be contained (being openly gay could have messed up a few things, here and there) has many on their knees, begging for more.
He was born in South Africa (where he is known for starring in the Spud movies) but relocated to Australia where all the Blue Neighborhood ideas must have been born (just guessing).
He is E.W.’s Pop Artist of the year (2015/16) and his recent collaborations with Alessia Cara have rejuvenated all of those that are still young at heart. That full-length Blue Neighborhood album was a risk for Troye; thank God it worked out. I really hope Beyonce didn’t steal a page from his book. Wait, no, Beyonce’s Lemonade is her second move (The Album 4, remember?). Or was it R. Kelly’s idea?
Anyways, Troye Sivan – WE SALUTE YOU!
Songs by Troye Sivan:
- Happy Little Pill
- Wild
- Wild (feat. Alessia Cara)
- Youth
- Talk Me Down
- Fools

HOTTER:
The 2016 edition of the Primetime Emmys will be broadcast live on the 18th of this month. The ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will air live on ABC.
Bored already? Yes, me too. I have no idea how the producers are going to keep us entertained on that night.
Are you ready to pick your winners for the 68th Primetime Emmys yet? Yes, me too. I can’t make up my mind because all of the actors and actresses really upped their game. I am looking forward to watching all of what they get up to (red carpet to the Emmys stage) during the telecast. Oh, I hope they show up too, LOL.
THROWBACK:
The 2016 iHeart Radio Much Music Video Awards (airing on MuchMusic) had the best music line-up in the history of award shows. The venue was central (downtown Toronto) and the stars that graced the stage did not disappoint the viewers.
One flaw: The hostess was terrible. Gigi Hadid is popular and influential, but hosting a show isn’t her 'thing'. They should’ve given her a nice seat and a chance to introduce a performing act. Please, don’t hate me for that, LOL.
Hey! Enzer live tweeted during the ceremony! Check out all of the tweets by typing in

If you missed the 2016 Teen Choice Awards (aired on Fox) hosted by Victoria Justice and John Cena, then you are probably still sane, LOL. Whatever was going on that night was a disaster. Who hires John Cena to host a gig? He is a wrestler, full stop! And is Victoria Justice still relevant?
Can we get a better show next time, please?

HOT ON TV
I love Unreal! We love Unreal! You should love Unreal too!Unreal (airing on Lifetime) has a unique storyline that has me glued to my screen. It’s that kinda show that you could watch over and over again. Remember the sitcom Friends which aired on NBC and continues to be a ratings chart topper? Yea, that’s what you should expect from this show if you haven’t watched it yet.
The cast is not the best I’ve seen on TV but they keep the show going. I haven’t identified an outstanding lead actor or actress yet but I do love how the supporting cast livens up the series. Now that is a supporting cast. The plot is like no other. Forget the other shows, the people that made up this story (Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and Marti Noxon) are ridiculously talented. I could have never imagined watching a show that creates scenes of how a reality television dating show is produced and not only that, the drama that makes the show, well, a good fictional series makes me want to knock on Hollywood writers doors and ask them this question:
Why Now? Why Not Earlier?
I am so impressed, OMG. The lead actresses Shiri Appleby (Rachel Goldberg) and Constance Zimmer (Quinn King) are not so bad (as mentioned earlier) but they need more help in the acting department. It’s like they never received any formal training but just simply showed up for an audition. That is the only flaw.
Otherwise, I’m hooked.
HOTTER:
MTV has released the nominee's list for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) which will air live on MTV later this month. I personally think that Beyonce is going to win everything. As for Adele, on one hand, I don’t really think she deserves to win anything. She only has two hit singles on high rotation! How did she beat Rihanna? On the other hand, I think they probably included her because she is Adele, the famous one, with a comeback that rocked Hollywood – blah blah BLAH. I can’t wait to see what they pull off though.THROWBACK:
Who Do You Think You Are? U.S.A. ended its 8th season in May. I enjoyed watching the season (aired on TLC) mainly because of the cast. It gets boring in between ‘this and that' but overall I can tell that a lot of time, effort and money went into the production of this series. I’d definitely try to catch the next season.P.S. The U.K. version made me sleep, LOL.

SPORT CHECK
It was all about European soccer for the past couple of weeks as Europe’s soccer giants battled it out for the Euro Cup. What caught my attention were not the players, the venues or the official song (This One’s For You by David Guetta ft. Zara Larsson) but the hype. Everybody was talking about all that was happening and I could feel the excitement even though I wasn’t in France. I really hope the next tournament is as exciting. Congratulations to Portugal (the 2016 champs). Are you as excited for the upcoming Rio 2016 Summer Olympics as I am? I can’t wait for it to all begin on the 5th of August in sunny Rio de Janeiro. I really hope that the bosses don’t call off the event considering how many athletes are continuously being banned from competing. Fingers crossed.
FLICK PICK
Looking: The Movie premiered on July 23 on HBO. Sadly, the film’s writers didn’t blow me away because I skipped most of it. The sex scenes were amazing (as usual) but the rest was average. The movie made me look at the show in a different light. When the television series got canceled in 2015, I couldn’t get it but after watching the ‘send-off’ I then understood why many people weren’t watching. The movie was probably a message from the executives telling 'us' that it was never going to happen again. If you have time, watch it.
