#TheRoundUp By Enzer - No. 58

HOT ON TV

Written by Gregg Araki and Karly Sciortino, STARZ’s Now Apocalypse is a new provocative series which mind-bogglingly redefines the apocalyptic idea and intelligently deviates from expectations in the most humorous and sexual way possible.

Starring a grown Avan Jogia (remember the guy with the long black hair from Nickelodeon’s Victorious) as Ulysses, the extremely sexy Beau Mirchoff (who starred in Enzer’s World (E.W.) Recognitions’ winning series Awkward which aired on MTV) as Ford, the beautiful Kelli Berglund as Carly, and guest stars Tyler Posey as Gabriel, Jacob Artist as Isaac, to mention a few, the series which unequivocally shattered those pesky critics deserves a renewal (or two).

Games People Play is a new BET drama which I find captivating. The story-lines are different from what many would expect from a BET fictional series and the main cast (Lauren London as Vanessa, Sarunas J. Jackson as Marques, Karen Obilom as Nia, Jackie Long as Kareem, Parker McKenna Posey as Laila) is the perfect puzzle piece. You won’t regret tuning in. #Totally

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club and Ex on the Beach (both on MTV) are two reality shows which had peeps like myself buzzing this E.W. Year.  The cat-fights, the jealousy, the love triangles and the hot bodies all made for mesmerizing viewing time which only a pessimist would dismiss.

HOTTER:
The Billboard Music Awards 2019 aired live from Las Vegas on NBC and were hosted by Kelly Clarkson

The telecast was stupendous!

What stood out the most were the live performances by 2019’s biggest hit makers as well as Cardi B, Drake and Mariah Carey’s speeches which got us all inspirational.

The Daytime Emmys 2019 were broadcast live and featured a bevy of daytime stars, and surprising wins.

Although mildly flawed, the event continues to plausibly showcase daytime television.

Other shows to catch: Dynasty on The CW, The Bachelorette on ABC, The Haves and the Have Nots on OWN.

A.I. UPDATE:

Only two contestants passed the test: Madison Vandenburg and Laine Hardy
They were both consistently exceptional and have a passable personality.

I did not enjoy Alejandro Aranada’s originals but overall, he was not the worst singer.

I still wish Ashley Hess had made it through to the live rounds (her duet with Jason Mraz is one of the best, ever) and I am still wondering why Laci Kaye Booth received a golden ticket.

Anyway, congrats to American Idol’s newest - Laine Hardy.

E.W. GLOBAL:

Naked Attraction is an intriguing reality series on Channel 4 which tackles the dating game in reverse. In other words, participants decide on whether to go on a date with someone based on their body parts alone (privates and face).

Talk about optimizing the chances of meeting the perfect mate, hey.

THROWBACK:

My Wife & Kids first aired on ABC in 2001 and starred Damon Wayans as Michael and Tisha Campbell-Martin as Jay

I will never get bored of watching reruns of the show which in my opinion does a stellar job at humorously portraying an upper-middle-class African American family.
