SPEAK OUT
#Celebs
Love is in the air, once again.
Jamie & Nikki Perkins, Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s Outstanding Web Star Couple/Duo for the 5th E.W. Year are the perfect example of a love story gone right. They are the perfect couple. They are the couple which defines relationship goals. They are… our top web couple of the year.
This Australian duo caught my attention about a year ago when one of their YouTube videos popped up on my computer screen. After that inexorable click happened, my world was altered forever.
There is definitely something in that Australian water because I cannot get enough of their daily lives. They have the most adorable daughter who’s as bubbly and witty as her parents and an ordinary life that works for the camera.
There is no doubt that these two are on the list of celebrities I would invite to dinner. #FingersCrossed, of course.
The Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively duo (E.W.’s Top Celebrity Couple for the 5th E.W. Year) is a good looking couple with good-looking kids and impressive career credits. I am glad that they are still together (well, according to media reports) and that they have protected their relationship in a way that ‘fills the cracks.’ That is what a Hollywood couple needs, sometimes.
Speaking of Hollywood breakups, one of the saddest days of my life was when I read an article and watched TV inserts about Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s breakup. I loved Fergie and Josh’s relationship. When news broke out that they were together, I wasn’t so sure because they didn’t look compatible. Yes, they did end up divorcing, but I feel like they had conquered all the odds and breaking up just simply took the dating world back to square one. #SadDayIndeed
A couple which I wish was real is Beth & Randall Pearson from This Is Us on NBC played by Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth) and Sterling K. Brown (Randall).
They have it all. Their love is unstoppable, they’re careers are noteworthy, they have beautiful kids and I love their house. OMG, it’s the house that we all want as a family home. They stand out because they are at a point where most couples would be in doubt about a future together and yet here they are exploring emotionally, financially, mentally…I could go on. They should be on the Valentine’s Day poster (at least for 2018).
Beth & Randall Pearson are E.W.’s Outstanding Fictional TV Series Couple for the 5th E.W. Year.
Sterling K. Brown was nominated for the Outstanding Fictional TV Series Actor Recognition for the same year.

HOT ON TV
Which TV shows are close to losing it? Well, continue reading to find.I’ll begin with Grown-ish airing on Freeform. I enjoyed watching the first episode. The pilot got my attention because the show is set on a college campus. Who doesn’t smile when they reminisce about their college days? That made the show HOT ON TV.
However, the cringe-worthy acting and dull actors resulted in a below average score. I lost all of the excitement and energy for that show and would definitely throw a couple of rotten tomatoes on its path. I don’t expect the show to get a third season.
Another TV series which is quite disappointing is
Kingdom on Audience Network. Nick Jonas is the only thing that makes that show worth –a-watch; otherwise, it’s destined for the TV trash can. I feel like the producers were trying too hard to reinvent a story similar to The Sopranos (HBO) which I also didn’t like. Yea, it’s just Nick, he’s medicinal.
The Four: Battle For Stardom is a new reality TV singing competition series airing on FOX and hosted by the one and only Fergie. The promos got me excited and the first three or four episodes were bearable, however, the show is losing the energy which it initially exuded. The show’s judging panel (Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Charlie Walk) act like their ‘high’ at all times and a lot of amazing singers are unfairly getting the boot early in the game.
In contradiction to the previous sentence, I actually do like Charlie Walk. His immeasurable experience in the music business is evident throughout the show. I just wish he could tone it down a little bit, that’s all.
Fergie is a one of a kind hostess, by the way.
HOTTER:
Mom on CBS is beginning to bore most of us. The writers are clearly running out of ideas (i.e. the humor is dry) and most of the cast members have become general. Anna Faris (Christy) is still killing it on camera. She is the only actor on the show that is effectively holding the fort otherwise; I would not be surprised if news of the show's cancelation broke out in a few weeks. The 60th Grammy Awards Ceremony aired live on CBS a few days ago. James Corden returned as host of this spectacular show and Bruno Mars went home with the night’s biggest accolade. Overall, the production was phenomenal. I liked the graphics shown on screen and the stage was perfect (smaller but effective). The Recording Academy always puts on an outstanding show so my expectations were met.
The seventh season of The Voice on ITV sucks. The British series has an exceptional production team but the rest of the show's aspects are lifeless. Skip the show if it’s recommended.
I can’t stop watching the latest season of Modern Family on ABC. The show has somehow managed to keep me glued to my small screen from the beginning to the end of each episode such that all the doubt I had about the show’s future has suddenly vanished. #Timeless
Shameless on Showtime concluded its eighth season a few days ago. I was impressed. The season was a roller-coaster ride which I never wanted to end. A number of scenes deserve high honor and I really hope the next season continues on the same streak.

WEB TV:
Guess what I stumbled upon a few weeks ago? A show called Best.Cover.Ever. available only on YouTube, can you believe it? A high-quality show about the cover music that we are so in love with here on E.W. has finally arrived. Discovering that was like receiving manna from heaven.
The show is hosted by Ludacris (good decision) and it features top musical acts and their top-charting music. It’s a great show to binge watch on a boring weekend and I sincerely hope that they make more episodes.
THROWBACK:
The 2018 Golden Globe Awards on NBC were worth it. Seth Meyers hosted the ceremony and Oprah received a special award. It was a good show, I am glad I did not miss the event and I hope the producers continue the good work. It’s all good.Season 13 of The Voice on NBC had an amazing finale show. A number of chart-topping musicians featured on the guest list and the finalists were the crème de la crème. It has been a while since I’ve enjoyed watching a season finale of a reality TV singing competition series so that episode was a breath of fresh air.
The popular French radio station, NRJ held its annual NRJ Music Awards in November of last year. The ceremony which aired on TF1 from the South of France has improved tremendously and is becoming an important pop culture event.
The host (Nikos Aliagas) was incredible and the lineup of performing acts and presenters was impressive and truly set the event apart from other ceremonies that I’ve watched.
The show’s producers have been using the same stage design for the last couple of years, but every time the show returns it’s as if we have it on TV for the first time. It’s a prestigious event with a little je ne sais quoi.
A.I. UPDATE:
The American Idol (A.I.) reboot on ABC begins inMarch. Don’t forget to keep checking this section of #TheRoundUp by Enzer for views, analysis, recaps (and maybe even spoilers), news and the predictions. I predicted Nick Fradiani’s win in 2015 so place your bets wisely, LOL.
