#TheRoundUp By Enzer - No. 52

HOT ON TV

American Housewife on ABC: an interesting take on the passably modern American woman.

What am I talking about, the show is a hit! The producers managed to use a concept which TV fans are familiar with (e.g. Reba aired on The CW) and somehow made it look like they invented the sub-genre.

Escaping to the perceivably opulent neighborhoods of Westport, Connecticut can be equated to one of a dog’s good days when his keeper provides treats for unknown reasons (or maybe we have been good boys and girls, who knows?).

Lead actress, Katie Mixon (Katie Otto) is immeasurably talented and has succeeded at captivating viewers by exceptionally bringing her role to life since 2016. Her on-screen persona is one of the reasons why I’m still watching the series (I know I say that all the time). She is undoubtedly one of the best actresses on TV at the moment meaning she could possibly rival the leading ladies of Modern Family, also on ABC

The rest of the main cast (mainly the lead character’s family) consisting of actors Diedrich Bader (Greg), Meg Donnelly (Taylor), Daniel DiMaggio (Oliver), Julia Butters (Anna-Kat), Ali Wong (Doris) and Carly Hughes (Angela) are a great support unit and totally deserve the mention (and awards).

I suggest you binge watch this Sarah Dunn creation for non-stop ABC Funny TV moments.

HOTTER:

It’s a yes! The 2018  iHeart Radio Music Awards aired in syndication about a week ago from L.A.
Hosted by Hailey Baldwin and DJ Khaled (Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s Best Hip-Hop/Rap Act for the 5th E.W. Year 2017), the ceremony was an award show with a difference.

The angle with which the producers and directors developed and delivered the spectacular event was astonishing. I can safely say that the iHeart Radio Music Awards are no longer your general awards show.

Good luck proving me wrong.

The 90th Academy Awards 2018 aired on ABC a few weeks ago and were hosted by funny man Jimmy Kimmel (he has jokes for days, doesn’t he?)

The Hollywood glamor which we all celebrate enthusiastically rose to the occasion.

Besides the negative after-show publicity (Trump’s comments; low rating card; ‘unpopular’ films) the event was breath-taking and lived up to its reputation as entertainment’s biggest night nonetheless.

*Other series to catch: UnReal (Lifetime), Riverdale (The CW), Dynasty (The CW), Modern Family (ABC), Empire (FOX), How To Get Away With Murder (ABC).

THROWBACK:

Did you watch the 21st season of Celebrity Big Brother UK (CBBUK) on Channel 5 and the 1st season of Celebrity Big Brother USA (CBBUS) on CBS

Well, I did! And I loved it, I loved both of them.

It has been a while since a version of Big Brother has kept me glued to my small screen so I’m pretty sure I am going to re-watch all the episodes to celebrate that, LOL.

Oh and one more thing, it really seemed like it was the
year of the gays. Yep, the CBBUK winner was Australian drag queen, Courtney Act and the runner-up for CBBUS was none other than Ross Mathews

If you are thinking of picking a good TV show to watch with your friends or family over a ‘long’ weekend then I’d suggest you pick a little show called Reba. The all-time favorite sitcom which was unmissable TV back in its day had a noteworthy cast (including ShamelessSteve Howey (Kevin)) and hilarious storylines which robbed us all of our sanity.

A.I. UPDATE:

Congratulations!

The current season of American Idol (A.I.) really knocked me off my feet. I usually switch channels after about fifteen minutes into the premiere episodes of these kinda reality shows but guess what, I have watched every minute thus far.

The producers and the rest of the season sixteen team have already scored big time on my scoreboard.

The quality of the contestants is divine and the judging panel (Luke Bryan, Lionel Ritchie, and Katy Perry) is to die for, I no longer have doubts i.e. move over Randy, Paula and Simon, a new hit squad is in town!

The EYE CANDY: OMG! It is a pity most of them are still teens. *hides*

I cannot wait for Hollywood Week to begin so that I put my prediction skills to the test once again.

IN THE NEWS

There is a pastor from Florida called Pastor Anderson who has been making headlines because of his staunch stance against the L.G.B.T.I. community. He has been banned from entering several countries and has been deported from a few after his deeply homophobic, backward, ancient and derogatory messages and sermons were made public.

I really hope he gets the ‘help’ that he needs. If everything turns out to be fine ‘upstairs’ then I’d suggest (I’m full of suggestions today, hey, LOL) he goes back to his church in Florida where many of his dedicated followers will be waiting anxiously for him to deliver all that he was ordained to deliver because surely, it doesn’t help traveling around the world, preaching to people that do not care and at worst are offended each time he opens his mouth.

Please, sir, spare yourself the humiliation by saving time and money which will enable you to devotedly study the holy scriptures over and over again before mental health doctors are called to ‘save the day.’

And no, this is not a mic-drop moment, thank you very much.

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 39

SPEAK OUT

#Celebs

Calvin Harris is Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s Top Male Celebrity (globally) for the 3rd E.W. Year

Why?

Because he is a top Electronic Dance Music Disc-Jockey (EDM DJ) that has sold millions worldwide, he rocks every festival he performs at, he is on every magazine cover (the ones we buy, right), he has a hot body and he is dating a gorgeous celebrity who the world just adores (except for Wendy Williams, allegedly) – Lol.

Calvin Harris is also British! Hey now! We love British men here on E.W. I mean who doesn’t? Robert Mugabe? - Lol.
Calvin is the third British male to win the Top Male Celebrity Recognition. Alex Pettyfer (famous for starring in the first Magic Mike film) and Tom Daley (the Olympic medal winning gay swimmer) were the first two winners for the first and second years respectively. I still can’t figure out why an American male hasn’t won that title yet. #PuzzlesMe

His music is on everybody’s playlist. He has collaborated with many of the entertainment industry’s relevant artists and he just keeps getting better. I really hope Calvin and girlfriend Taylor Swift are in the studio working on a pop/EDM collab. Surprise us man!

Favorite Songs by Calvin Harris:
-Feel So Close
-Let’s Go (feat. Ne-Yo)
-Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)
-I Need Your Love (feat. Ellie Goulding)
-Thinking About You (feat. Ayah Marar)
-Summer
-Blame (feat. John Newman)
-Outside (feat. Ellie Goulding)
-Pray To God (feat. Haim)
-How Deep Is Your Love (with Disciples)

Another top celebrity whose name is mentioned EVERYWHERE is a young hottie, Nick Jonas. Nick is currently the E.W. Recognitions’ top male celeb for the United States. He has also taken over the E.W. official blog (where you are right now).
We love him both dressed, undressed (LOL) and though his love life isn’t as fairytale-like as it should be we still think he makes amazing music. His transformation from this teen idol to an adult western pop act was one of note. I can’t wait to hear more music from his latest album.

Favorite Songs by Nick Jonas:
-Chains
-Jealous
-Levels
-Close (feat. Tove Lo)

“The world is a great mirror. It reflects back to what you are. If you are loving, if you are friendly, if you are helpful, the world will prove loving and friendly and helpful to you. The world is what you are.” – THOMAS DREIER

HOT ON TV

Awards Ceremonies are a big ‘thing’ in Hollywood and all over the world. Sadly, this year’s round of awards events airing on TV (mainly in the United States) has been the worst so far. I thought the producers/organizers were going to blow the E.W. Board and I away in 2016, considering how well they’ve done in previous years but hey, I guess humans will never be able to reach THAT level of perfection, even with TV specials, right? - LOL.

The 88th Academy Awards also known as the Oscars which aired on ABC were not as good. Chris Rock was a great choice for a host but the ‘black’ jokes that he uttered during the whole telecast were ‘too much’. It was as if the producers took the YEAR off! What rubbish was that?
The stage was (however) impressive and the presenters killed it. I’m not going to talk about Stacey Dash and how old the Dolby Theatre looks. None of that ridiculousness deserves the spotlight – LOL.

The 2016 iHeart Radio Music Awards which aired on NBC in the United States were not as good as the 2015 edition as well. Ugh, this depresses me. Jason Derulo hosted the show.

Jason Derulo: NO.

He has a great personality but he failed at being the MC, and I knew that he would mess up. I know that these type of awards are supposed to be chilled and be similar to a huge party taking place at a friend's house down the street but becoming too chilled killed the whole system. Do you get it?
At least top celebs Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris had memorable moments. I hope that they are truly in love because if they aren’t, a lot of people will be disappointed.

The MTV Movie Awards aired a few weeks ago on MTV (globally) and were hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. They were different and pretty cool actually. A lot of people were not impressed by the stage and venue but I thought it was unique and historical. It brought a fresh vibe to the awards and I can’t wait to see what MTV does with the upcoming VMAs as well. Good comments don’t mean it was fantastic, so hold your horses for now – LOL.

The 2016 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards also took a new direction. The SLIMY show that aired live on Nickelodeon was hosted by country star Blake Shelton. He looked like he had fun with the kids. I hope he hosts again. The show was a mess, though. It could’ve been because of the new stage and elements which the public are most probably not used to yet. I wonder what the producers are going to try and pull off next year because, after that terrible experience, I’m scared that they might be nothing that could be done to revive the show.

The Grammys which aired on CBS were better, not the best, but better. LL Cool J hosted again and, well, it was the same thing as last year. Is he ever going to bring something new to the table? If he hosts the Grammys again next year and it’s the same old cool hip-hop guy, the Grammys will be DONE.
Taylor Swift opened the show by singing one of my favorite songs of the year - ‘Out Of The Woods’ and a couple of artists paid tribute to Lionel Ritchie. He totally deserved that tribute. He was also going to be a great judge on American Idol but I guess it’s now too little too late (yes, I got that one from JoJo – LOL).

The 2016 Golden Globe Awards (hosted by Ricky Gervais) aired live from Beverley Hills on NBC earlier this year. Ricky Gervais and the proceedings made me miss Tina Fey and Amy Poehler less – THANK GOD. Chris Rock can never be able to do what Ricky Gervais did at the Golden Globes this year. The lad is so funny; his jokes could impregnate Ross Matthews in an instant. Though he is a little trashy (drinking on stage wasn’t really a good idea) he is good at livening up a group of people that could easily get bored by being at such a ceremony. The other aspects of the telecast were impressive. The GLOBES are a classy ceremony so there’s not much to worry about.

Did you enjoy the 2016 People’s Choice Awards as much as I did? The ceremony which was broadcast live on CBS took it to the next level. Hostess Jane Lynch opened the show in a very cool way and the performances by Jason Derulo and Shawn Mendes with Camilla Cabelo (from Fifth Harmony) were epic (yes, Jason Derulo should stick to performing pop music). The stage was glittery (not a bad thing at all) and the line-up of our favorite Hollywood stars was impressive. I expected a good show and that is exactly what I got. Well done to the team behind this special night. It was a success.

Hotter:

Still on televised awards shows, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards are coming up in May and will be hosted (once again) by Ludacris and RnB superstar Ciara
To be honest, I am getting bored of Ludacris. Ok, he is successful and everybody loves him but I feel like we’ve had too much of him around. Shouldn’t he be working on new music or something?
I can’t wait to see what Ciara does and wears on the night, though. Is she going to perform? Is she going to make out with her lover? Well, she’s not as crazy as Miley Cyrus so I guess she’ll keep it classy.
The producers of this show are great at what they do so I am not really worried about a lot and you shouldn’t be too (if you are passionate about this kinda stuff).

The Voice US is killing it! Season 10 recently aired its live Top 12 show and I enjoyed watching every minute of it. Though the coaches aren’t as good at their jobs, the contestants are beyond exceptional (all off them!) This show has really improved and has ignited a feeling of excitement that I just can’t describe in writing. Watch it and you’ll understand.

A show that you should definitely check out if you are into watching Europeans trying to sing American hits (LOL) is It Takes Two airing on RTL4 in The Netherlands. This series has me in a state of frenzy at the moment. The singers are by far the best on reality TV. The X-Factor, The Voice and Idols Series have got nothing on these Dutch men and women. #MustSeeTV

Throwback:

So now I’m finally going to talk about the American Idol Farewell Season which aired its final episode on April 7, 2016. I decided not to blog about each live episode because I was too sad that the show was not returning  in 2017. Well, thank god, because the fifteenth or farewell season wasn’t as good as the season that aired before in 2015. The whole production was ‘rushed’ and the contestants weren’t the best except for one or two (it could’ve been the finalists).
The finale raised the bar, though. Contestants and judges from previous seasons showed up to pay homage to MOTHER IDOL and a guy called Trent Harmon beat out a girl named La’Posha Renae in the final showdown.

SIDE NOTE: They are both from Mississippi.

I cried a lot during the live finale. Yes, an American TV show finally got me to shed a tear.

Hey, I’m human too!

Our Idol celebration will continue on social media (of course). So, Hashtag #EnzerLovesIdol on Twitter or Facebook to check out some of our Idol favorites online.

IN THE NEWS

Have you guys been following the BREXIT stories? Well, President Obama recently urged Britons to vote against exiting the European Union (E.U.) in an upcoming voting period. He was heavily criticized by Britain’s opposition leaders for meddling in affairs that don’t concern the United States (the U.S. does that all the time people, read a book sometime - LOL). However, the British Prime Minister, David Cameron was pleased that a friend was honest enough to offer sound advice to his people. Obama later echoed the Prime Minister by mentioning that Britain would be better off in the E.U. than ‘alone’. What do you think?

Moving on, I know this is out a little late but I couldn’t end this section without mentioning how good looking Canada’s ‘new’ Prime Minister is (assumed office in November 2015). His name is Justin Trudeau and he is the son of Pierre Trudeau, a former Canadian Prime Minister. He is proof that French men are still the best-looking people on the planet (he is French-Canadian) and that is not going to change for a long time. President Obama and Prince William can sit down now – LOL.

Another good thing is his cabinet. That cabinet gives so much hope for a better Canada (as if Canada is poorly governed) and I guess it sets a good example for other countries. Good luck Canada.

#TheRoundUp by Enzer - No. 19

HOT ON TV

Fresh off the Boat is killing it! The comedy series, airing on ABC adds something new and special to our TV schedule – I love it! It also has an insane (great) script and gives the guys at Modern Family and Blackish (also airing on ABC) a run for their money (I’m sure).
The little boy in one of the lead roles (his name is Hudson Yang) is outstanding! He is so comfortable portraying the character Eddie Huang and his delivery gets an A++, #KeepHim. As for the stereotypes, well, I cringe sometimes, but then I remember that TV can get wilder than that.

Moving on, the iHeart Radio Music Awards went down in Los Angeles this past weekend and aired live on NBC. Did you miss the ceremony? If you missed it, then I apologize. I apologize because the ceremony could arguably be the most entertaining awards show to date and you missed it, LOL.
A lot of Enzer’s World (E.W.)’s top artists performed their current hit songs and some even walked away with awards, good for you guys! The producers/organizers did well (thumbs up) and the host wasn’t so bad. I can’t wait for the next edition!

Also trending this past weekend were the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards which aired live from Inglewood, California. The telecast was not that different from previous editions with the usual sliming moments and special appearances by this year’s favorite celebrities.
Did you know that Nick Jonas hosted the ceremony? Yes, he is relevant but he is not the best man for the job. It felt awkward but I loved his jokes. Hey! Don’t get it twisted, we love Nick Jonas.

How about the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber? LOL, some of my body parts are still sore! The Roast which aired on Comedy Central earlier this week had me in stitches throughout! Martha Stewart and Pete Davidson stood out for me and the Roast Master, Kevin Hart did not disappoint at all (oh, but of course).

WHO SHOULD BE THE NEXT ROASTEE?
- Ellen DeGeneres

She needs to pay for all her sins, LOL.

AMERICAN IDOL ROUND-UP

They messed up those songs! The whole ‘Kelly Clarkson Week’ Theme was a great idea but unfortunately the contestants had traveled to another planet and were unavailable when the expectations were laid out. Most of them struggled with the songs! Yes, even one of the best singers in the competition, Tyanna had a very bad day and was sadly the worst performer of the night.

Thanks anyways for bringing our girl Kelly Clarkson back home. I just wish you guys at American Idol had done more for her though. That which I watched on Wednesday night was ridiculous. #Done
