HOT ON TV
The 8th Annual Enzer’s World (E.W.) Recognitions winning series, Hollywood (Netflix) is an intriguing series whose writers’ attempt to rewrite the Hollywood story or the history of entertainment (using ‘what if’ scenarios) did not bore most of us, #LOL.
The series cast includes David Corenswet as Jack (E.W. Steam’s Outstanding Actor for the 8th E.W. Year 2020) and Jeremy Pope as Archie (E.W. Queer’s Outstanding Actor for the 8th E.W. Year 2020).
What’s most striking (and well done) about the production is the cinematography, which was one of the reasons why I watched ‘til the end of the first season.
If the series hasn’t created much buzz in the streets by now, then the producers shouldn’t bother making a second season; which I am #totally looking forward to.
#FingersCrossed, coz Ryan Murphy seldom disappoints.
Hollywood won the following E.W. Recognitions for the 8th E.W. Year 2020: Outstanding Cinematography (Fictional); Outstanding Fictional Series (E.W. Steam); Outstanding Fictional Series (E.W. Queer).
Netflix won the Best Television Channel/Station/Network/Platform Recognition for the 8th E.W. Year 2020.
It is also worth mentioning that E.W.’s Outstanding Actress for the 8th E.W Year 2020 is Maitreyi Ramakrishnan who plays Devi in another hit teenage story titled Never Have I Ever on Netflix.
It was, clearly, a great year for teen dramas and streaming services.
Bravo’s Summer House is a drama-filled reality series following a group of friends’ vacations in quieter locations, away from the big cities. If I could tag along with them, I would. If I could be on any reality show during a summer break, it would be this one, minus the drama of course.
Songland is another reality series which I would love to be apart of. The show focuses on songwriting featuring a panel of experts in music production and international artists (as guests) who give aspiring songwriters an opportunity to sell their work. I highly recommend this series.
Summer House and Songland are both 8th E.W. Recognitions winners: Outstanding Reality Series (Celebrity Lifestyle), Outstanding Reality Series (Challenge/Competition/Game), respectively.
HOTTER:
You (Netflix) is the 8th E.W. Recognitions’ Outstanding Series (Fictional) for the 8th E.W. Year 2020!
Our TV Obsession for the previous E.W. Year rose above the rest because of the gripping plot-line which #totally took over my life, twice (yes I re-watched the season).
Every moment, every picture, every line, among the other aspects of the show, just aggregated so perfectly such that if the winning season were an earthquake, then I’d still be reeling from the aftershock.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show may be in hot soup after some former staffers revealed to popular outlets that working for the show was like working in hell (well, those were not the exact words but...)
I’m curious to find out what Ellen will say about these reports because I mean, even though racism, misogyny, and homophobia are problems in Hollywood (and there’s evidence to support that), sometimes, some people, may just want publicity or to tarnish others’ image. I pity the courts. #Sighs
The Ellen DeGeneres Show won the E.W. Recognitions’ Best E.W. TV Moments Recognition for the 8th E.W. Year 2020.
Two major awards shows held virtual events these past few weeks: The 2020 Daytime Emmys which were hosted by The Talk’s hostesses and the 2020 BET Awards which were hosted by Amanda Seales. Both virtual events were quite entertaining and well-received (and cheaper, I’m sure, #LOL) such that it didn’t really feel like a pandemic was rife. Hopefully, the ratings were pleasing.
Other series to catch: Bruh (BET+); The Politician (Netflix).
WEB TV:
In case you aren’t aware, MTV through it’s YouTube channel has been (for the past E.W. Year) streaming specials titled MTV Streams. These streams included countdowns, VMA specials, throwbacks to mention a few. I am not sure if they are available after a stream has ended, so HEADS UP! Try not to miss them, when the channel goes live.
Don’t miss out on E.W.’s T.V. Moments on Twitter and Facebook! Use the hashtag #EWTVMoments to view all of the selected videos.
A.I. UPDATE:
Just Sam won the 18th/3rd Season of American Idol!
I had a feeling when she initially auditioned for the judges on TV. I just felt that there was something special about her; which there was, which there is.
She gave A.I. audiences some of the best television performances of the year and she #totally deserves all the support she can get, and the A.I. title.
Though the past season of Idol featured great performances, I still yearned for live performances in a studio or the Kodak Theatre or the Microsoft Theatre.
Hopefully, they’ll make a plan.
American Idol is E.W.’s Outstanding Reality Series (Singing Competition) for the 8th E.W. Year 2020.
E.W. GLOBAL:
Living The Dream With Somizi (1 Magic) follows the life of flamboyant South African celebrity Somizi Mhlongo, as he navigates through his dreamy lifestyle featuring his family, his closest pals, and his partner, Mohale Motaung. The show is a fast-paced presentation with a prime-time flair.
Somizi Mhlongo & Mohale Motaung are E.W. Queer's Top Celeb Couple for the 8th E.W. Year 2020.
*E.W. Global’s Outstanding Series (Fictional) for the 8th E.W. Year 2020 is the drama Grassroots (1 Magic).
THROWBACK:
True Blood (HBO) was one of my favorite supernatural series when it was on back in 2008 to 2014, such that a post-True Blood era is slowing becoming unbearable considering that I have failed to find a replacement. The series was about vampires of all sorts, running around town and getting themselves into all sorts of trouble; kinda like the humanization of vampires. If you’re into a risque action-filled thriller/horror series, then True Blood would make for a great (adult) binge session.
*E.W.’s Best Halloween Song for the 8th E.W. Year 2020, is Straight To Hell performed by Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), to promote the latest season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix (whose next season is the finale).
SPEAK OUT
#Celebs
One of my favorite Hollywood couples were recently exposed (or exposed themselves; which is which?) for being in an open marriage.
Yes, I am talking about Will & Jada Pinkett Smith.
It’s been confirmed (by the couple) that August Alsina had been seeing Jada when Will & Jada had taken a break from their relationship. Social media (especially) was abuzz when singer August Alsina revealed to a radio station that he was involved with Jada prompting both Jada & Will to open up about their marriage on a talk show hosted by Jada.
Okay, firstly I adore Will & Jada (and August), so some of these problems or resolutions or lifestyles are pretty much irrelevant (on my timeline) and are none of my business. Why? Because if those two (or three) have managed to find a way to keep their marriage intact, then hallelujah, praise the lord and good for them. Well done, keep it up, because Hollywood relos never really work out anyways, and I don’t need to give examples of that. Secondly, at times it felt like the success of their pairing was too good to be true. Before these exposes, I had not heard or read about anything negative concerning their marriage. It all looked picture perfect.
However, as a showbiz couple, I also feel like this may have been a publicity stunt (i.e. LIES! LIES! LIES!), though that theory might be weightless because I cannot honestly think of a reason why a celebrity would air that type of dirty laundry for the whole world to dissect (i.e. REVENGE IS SOUR, and yes, I’m looking at you August).
What annoyed me the most was how so many people suddenly started condemning the couple for trying to save their marriage in such a non-traditional manner when the statistics regarding divorce rates globally speak for themselves. Please leave Will & Jada alone!
E.W.’s Top Celeb Couple for the 8th E.W. Year 2020 is Justin & Hailey Bieber, and I wish them well (plays Sigala, Becky Hill’s song titled ''Wish You Well'').
Anyway, I just adore Justin & Hailey. They seem to be having the time of their lives together making it difficult to be jealous, #LOL. #VivaYoungLove
Moving on, Naya Rivera, popularized by musical dramedy Glee, was found dead about a week ago. I was shocked and saddened by her death like many of her Glee fans; and I am beginning to think that there may be a permanent dark cloud hanging over these Glee stars, who have taken it upon themselves to develop a fund for Naya’s kid, by the way.

IN THE NEWS
The COVID-19 statistics are alarming! If you’re following the reports and updates like I am then you must be feeling like the world is coming to an end. Or maybe not, but there’s definitely an air of pessimism right?
With Trump discouraging the use of protective masks, China blaming the U.S. for the outbreak, and a volatile global economy – I can safely conclude that the future is bleak.
